Vatican official fears Syrian conflict could explode into world war

The secretary of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace told Vatican Radio that “the conflict in Syria has all the ingredients to explode into a war of global dimensions.”

Asked to comment on “the fear expressed by many voices in the Church that an attack on Syria would extend the violence throughout the region,” Archbishop Mario Toso said that the Pope has condemned “war that is conducted with the use of indiscriminate weapons and affects primarily the defenseless civilian population. It is never the use of violence that leads to peace."

“No one would come out of it unharmed by conflict or by an experience of violence,” said Archbishop Mario Toso. “There can be no alternative but that of reasonable encounters, of initiatives based on dialogue and negotiation.”

The prelate added that Pope Francis’s cry for peace in Syria reflects the desire of people around the world and that the Pope is “anxious about the dramatic developments that lie ahead, in the light of how they are moving the great ones of the earth.”

Isn’t every American war “The War to End All Wars”?

Since Putin has threatened to hit Saudi Arabia as hard as Obama hits Syria, this might be prophetic.

Well, we can with absolute certainty declare it official that the promise of "hope & change" has been kept.

Nothing was ever mentioned for the better or worse?

The high road to Armageddon, driven by Obama and his minions.

Prayer for Peace in Syria

God of Compassion,
Hear the cries of the people of Syria,
Bring healing to those suffering from the violence,
Bring comfort to those mourning the dead,
Strengthen Syria’s neighbors in their care and welcome for refugees,
Convert the hearts of those who have taken up arms,
And protect those committed to peace.

God of Hope,
Inspire leaders to choose peace over violence and to seek reconciliation with enemies,
Inspire the Church around the world with compassion for the people of Syria,
And give us hope for a future of peace built on justice for all.

We ask this through Jesus Christ,
Prince of Peace and Light of the World,
Amen.

Petition: For the people of Syria, that God may strengthen the resolve of leaders to end the fighting and choose a future of peace.

But we’re just going to go over and lob a few bombs or cruise missiles to make sure omoslem doesn’t “lose face” and then pack up and go home, right?

I don’t like it when someone at that level says what I’m thinking but hoping I’m wrong about.

Since Putin has threatened to hit Saudi Arabia as hard as Obama hits Syria,

Hey Vlad, here are the coordinates you can plug into your missiles: 21.4167° N, 39.8167° E

Listen folks, I’m very against the Syria attack but, I’m also Catholic, I don’t mean to be offensive but protestant religions are off-shots of the Catholic Church established by Christ.
This is a world war and had been since the Blind Sheik bombed NYC.
The sooner we pull a Hiroshima and Nagasaki on Medina and Mecca and others places, then we will have peace.
IMO the Pope needs to call it as such, instead of let’s all get along.
Ask Japan, we’ll get along just fine.

...world war

Not yet. We'll be gone before the real deal begins which Jesus in Mathew 24 called the "beginning of sorrows" in which 1/4 of the world dies right out of the gate (the fourth horse of the apocalypse - Revelation 6:8).
