USCCB Immigration Pandering - Ulterior Motives Exposed (Catholic Caucus)

The US Senate has already come up with its excuse of an "immigration reform" bill. Led by Harry Reid and enabled by the "Gang of Eight (now including Marco Rubio)", this bill does nothing in terms of securing the southern border and dealing with the illegal aliens who are already here. They understand that a similar bill does not have a snowball's chance in hell of ever getting passed. Thus the progressives, from Obama on down, are trying a different strategy. They just want the House to pass some sort of immigration bill. Once this bill is passed, it will go to joint conference along with the Senate version. It is in this conference that the progressives plan to strip all border control provisions from the House bill and then ram this joint bill through both Houses again. Defenders of sovereignty understand that the best alternative would be to keep the House from bringing any "immigration bill" to the floor.

Now, in the minds and dreams of the progressives, enters the USCCB with its push to lobby the House of Representatives to pass "immigration reform". Recall that right now the progressives aren't too particular on the particulars, as it were. Their sights are set on the joint-conference version of the bill, but the House must pass a bill as a precursory step. Notice that all the pressure is being put on the House of Representatives.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why the Messiah Most Miserable and his Minions Most Mindless (particularly those in the USCCB, and I do mean you, Kevin Appleby!) are going "full press" on this matter. Let me now refer you to Father Z's blog; pay attention to his quote from Apostolos Suos, that reminds us that the USCCB does not speak with Magisterial authority, pretensions to the contrary.

The Catholic Church is looking to fill the pews and the Democrat Party is looking to fill the ballot boxes, the illegal alien population is presumed to be able to solve the problems of both of them.

As the clergy are supposed to urge support for illegal immigration from the pulpit this weekend perhaps we could report back here on whether or not our local pastors actually followed through with it, to get a sense as to how many congregations are getting leftist propaganda from their priests and how many of the lower clergy support it.

It would be an amusing rumor that Barry has offered the USCCB temporary exemption from the HHS abortion rules in exchange for their supporting him with illegal aliens.

That would be hilarious, and embarrassing, all the way around.

OK, a question for you. Were your great grandparents Irish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, German, Japanese - etc. etc.

Remember the signs that said
“Catholics need not apply.”

“Irsh need not apply.”

“Jaapanese need to go to a camp.”

No. You assume a unity of purpose in the Church that is not there. Different people are behind the wheel of the bus at different times.

I just read your homepage. Nevermind and I understand. For I sometimes feel the same way.

Do illegals drop anything into the collection baskets?

I think the bishops are nostalgic for an immigrant church that built the churches and cathedrals, the parochial schools and Catholic colleges. That is never going to be repeated.

Can the unity of the USCCB ever be assumed? What I am suggesting is those individuals who have come out for illegal aliens would be the ones trying to make a deal.

I’m for some kind of ‘comprehensive immigration reform’.
Green cards for adult law breakers. Possible path to citizenship for those brought here as children. I’m for bring them up to being legal in a restrictive way, not in a full generosity way.

But I’m not for it on the terms of the USCCB nor the Democrats. The USCCB played ball(politics) on ObamaCare and what did it get them and all of us—at a minimum, a tool for our persecution. Now they want to play ball(politics) for Immigration Reform and grant them all citizenship and probably Social Security credits and absolve them of all the identity theft crimes and what not and further grant them that they can sponsor/bring all their relatives over swiftly also.

Those who disagree can cast their votes any way they want.

My closest church is a liberal, progressive 'social justice' Catholic Church. The most liberal in the diocese. We dont have kneelers, few statues, etc. They had the 'social justice' expert, our liberal deacon, during the homily in the past year or so promoting the 'Dream Act'. This was during the period, where again, the Dream Act didnt pass in Congress and the Democrats were trying to resuscitate it. Sound familar! Any how I'm going there for Sat eve Mass, in the next couple of hours. I'd be dissapointed if they didnt cheerlead one way or another during the homily. This will be my last attendance there for a while. I usually can go there for a while, before something ticks me off too much, then I shift. I'll be scuttling off to another Novus Ordo mass at another 3 nearby very good parishes, where I can tolerate their presentation of the Novus Ordo i.e. where it doesnt get changed much or the priest isnt acting as a talk show host/comedian throughout.

We didn’t hear a peep about immigration—illegal or otherwise— in our priest’s homily today. He preached right from the Gospel, like he always does. And I live in Arizona and our parish has a HUGE Spanish-speaking population.
