I worry about his referring to abortion and homosexuality as being too huge an effort that turns people off to the church.

You can’t compromise your morality and soul to sin.

IMO we do love the sinner but reject the sin.
People who are strong gay and abortion advocates are often proud of their sins. Gays actually parade their sins, so I don’t totally agree with the Pope here.

Did I miss something here?
Anyway, we can bring this elsewhere. I did not mean change the subject matter of this thread. Sorry.

You know, my experience reading the interview was very different from the headlines and captions and all.

I THINK I get what the Pope means. To exaggerate, sometimes it seems that if suddenly nobody wanted an abortion a lot of catholics would lose their purpose in life. We love the mothers and the babies because we love Jesus and are loved by him. We want them to share that happiness and adventure. He is most imporant.

And our intactions with oher sinners cannot be chiefly about their sin. It must be about the Lord who is a Love that is stronger than any sin or sorrow.

Christ kept Torah. If you love me you will keep my commandments. The word of God is clear in writing, if people read. Or, they seek man, and his definition!

Peace to all!
