Returning briefly to the text: (verses 20-21) read: "But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God."

Isn't Peter writing about PROPHECY as given in what we call the Old Testament? On the meaning of PROPHECY, the Holy Spirit is responsible. But on other passages we are not warned to NOT reason it out, and in fact Paul instructs that we are to do just that, to apply other scriptural texts in order to gleen meaning.
