You condemn praying to “dead people.”

But ARE those who have died, physically, really “dead.”

Or was Jesus wrong when He said that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were all alive, because “I am not the God of the dead, but of the living”?

It’s interesting that Jesus told the parable of the Rich Man who dies and then carries on a conversation with Abraham. If Jesus wanted to PROMOTE the idea that the dead are not really dead, that would be an excellent way to do it!

I also condemn anybody that tries to take an isolated Scripture on which to build a doctrine. Your quote to me of Jesus's words were twice misplaced in context.

Firstly, Jesus was quoting scripture, not speaking extemporaneously. Jesus always used the Scriptures to explain the Gospel. Secondly, the context from which your quote came was from the attempted trickery by some suppose that scholars. I see the same thing happening with most of the rhetoric from the Roman Catholic side. the next part of your post even talk about the parable of the rich man and Abraham (which by the way, is found in Luke 16). Do you understand what parable means? Parables are not literal occurrences. Maybe you are just confused, so I will furnish the definition:

par·a·ble [par-uh-buhl]
noun

1. a short allegorical story designed to illustrate or teach some truth, religious principle, or moral lesson.

2. a statement or comment that conveys a meaning indirectly by the use of comparison, analogy, or the like.

The Roman Catholic indoctrination process is strong. It is obvious to anyone that reads these threads that the Roman Catholics here in our totally committed to the defense of the organization based in Rome. They even tried to pick some scriptures to build their case without rhyme nor reason. It's just what they've always been taught! But thank God, I have the Holy Spirit as my guide and comforter. I don't need to depend on Rome's interpretations and misinterpretations and misplaced doctrines of men. I only need to trust in the Lord. There is no dead person I can pray to, know what I have any reason when I have the assurance that I can approach God's throne directly. You see, I am part of the family. I have been grafted into joint heirship with Christ. There is no man on earth that can pardon my sins, because when I gave my life to him he promised to remember them no more. Believe it or not!

But Jesus spoke to them just as I will speak to the Roman Catholic “Sadducees”. In verse 29, Jesus says unto them, “you do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.”

***

Matthew 22:23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.

27 And last of all the woman died also.

28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. ...

If you have cable TV, there won’t be much on to watch.

If there isn’t much on to watch, you will answer your door whenever someone rings.

If you open your door, you will see mormons.

If you talk to mormons, they will trick you into “praying about whether something is true”.

If you rely on your feelings, you may become a mormon.

If you become a mormon, you will have to wear magic underwear!

If you wear magic underwear, people will immediately label you as a cultist.

DON’T be a cultist!
Get DirectTV.
