There are no roots, but each stem has multiple new growths. I'm going to bring a rose over to our garden shop and ask what the best way would be to encourage roots.
Even one of our fallen-away children said today, "Um, mom, what's with these roses?" (Her name is Therese!) :)

Seriously, I have never seen a cut rose produce fresh leaves. St. Therese is watching over your daughter. I have entrusted mine, named for Christ, to His Mother. Mary never fails to lead souls home to her Son.
