"O Lord, if it is consistent with thy will, please remove this fog in five minutes. Thou knowest the engagement thou didst make for me in Quebec on Saturday. I believe it is thy will."

George Muller's faith in God stemmed from knowing God's will. If you understand God's will, faith in God comes easy. It only has to be the size of a mustard seed.

2Ki 6:17 Then Elisha prayed and said, "O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see." So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

The hardest part is knowing God's will.

Was an instantaneous answer to prayer...well, maybe about an hour later anyway.

Was heading off to work one night and was broke. Had like $1.00 in my checking account and payday was the next day but in the meantime I needed to eat something. So as I walked down the stairs to my apt. I reminded God of my finances and asked Him to provide something for my dinner that night since I had no money.

Got in the car and drove to work, went upstairs and put my stuff at my work station, and then decided to go downstairs to kill some time before I started my shift. As I am going down the stairs, a girl is coming up the stairs....one not all that friendly to me in the past, mind you. She has a McDonald’s bag in her hand. She sees me and says, Hey, would you like this food...I don’t want it...I only bought it to get the toy that came with it.

I almost fell down the rest of the stairs but managed not to. I said sure, thanks, and took the bag from her. Inside was a Big Mac and fries...my dinner for that night. I was a pretty brand new believer and I needed to see exactly that kind of action from the Lord to bolster my faith. Every time I recall that answered prayer, I still well up and give thanks.

Of course, I have graduated on to waiting for much bigger things from the Lord and He has never failed. I wrote briefly about another time on another thread but did not give much detail....same work place...much bigger action. And currently waiting on another action going on about 3 years now.

But that bag of McDs that night was the start and I have never, ever forgotten how He works even in the most seemingly insignificant ways. And, as an added bonus, I heard later that the girl who gave me the McDs also came to Christ.

Ask Him and believe...and you will surely see!

I have to disagree.....it isn’t difficult at all.

Ask in prayer for a need...like my dinner story...believe He will provide....and see Him answer. This has been the way it has always worked in my life whether it be the small need of dinner for one night or a bigger need of rent being paid, etc.

Even to those people I have seen come under conviction and be saved from my witness to them, He has always been faithful and brought whatever I needed along just when I needed it. And sometimes He does wait till the very last second just as He did for the orphans and Mr. Muller’s breakfast. He delights in doing this for us and His greatest delight is that we come to Him, in trust and faith, and believe He will do for us what we ask. His glory is manifested when He answers us and provides. It is one of the coolest things to see play out.

Of course, what you are asking for does have to be in line with His will and that is easy enough to see if one reads Scripture. He wants us to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, so any good thing He will not withhold.

Now, I will not kid you and say that it is easy to wait on God to act.....it is not..and that is exactly what Muller says in the video biography of his life. But God starts you off in small things, like my dinner prayer, and gradually moves you up to bigger things....stretching that faith muscle if you will, until each time it becomes easier to be still and wait on Him.

There is nothing else like it in the life of a believer. And that is faith!

Muller let God provide in any circumstance, and since God had already told him to go to this conference then he knew God must also provide the way for him to get there. Muller believed, asked God for the removal of the fog, and was immediately answered. It really is this simple but people want to make it more complicated and circuitous than it needs to be.

We can always know God’s will if we pray, present the need, and wait for the reply. Sometimes the answer comes quickly...other times not. But it always comes.

Sure....it helped me greatly and was a reminder to me of how God has worked in exactly the same way for me as He did for Muller. Was the jolt I needed to get my perspective back.
