Spiritually experienced Christian witnesses will avoid creating needless offense... the key word is needless, sometimes there is no choice.

Some Protestant theologizing is so extreme as to say that the gospel lived only in these splinter congregations and that there was nothing at all in the mainstream.

They can have their own opinions about bygones, but we CAN observe these congregations today and the fact that some of the worshipers ARE unmistakably Christian. They have theological errors but again it isn’t good theology that saves, it’s Christ.

You are entitled to your own opinion. Not so your own facts. Even to this day to announce, as a Jew, that you've put your faith in Jesus Christ (whether or not you mean it) is to get badly ostracized. Messianic congregations (Jewish Christian churches) will accept you... but no other Jews will. You'll get some flak as a gentile but far, far less. Half the Gentile world at least claims a Christian affiliation. Don't diss God's achieved plan.

As a Sabbath keeping and somewhat kosher Christian going the other direction, I can assure you that the ostracizing is just as evident in Christianity as you portray it in Judaism. And 'Christian affiliation' is no better than any other. What matters is the truth. That which distracts from the truth is not of YHWH.

“Anti-Catholicism not anti-catholic.”

The article seems anti-Catholic to me. Note that the word “Catholicism” does not appear anywhere in the article, but the word “Catholic” frequently does.

When you find a verse that says that ONLY Scripture contains revelation, I will consider myself corrected and rebuked.

Consider this: How can one equate that which we know to be God-breathed with that which can only be the traditions of men? Even in the fetid swamps of Romanism, their traditions are not 'God breathed'... Yet they assume to lift them equal to, or even above that which is known to be of YHWH.

SOLA-scriptura does not mean ONLY. ALL Protestants have their own traditions, ALL Protestants listen to and learn from other sources, but sola-scriptura dictates that nothing learned elsewhere can hold an equality or superiority to the written Word. And rightly so, for if it is OF YHWH, how could it possibly differ from what is written?

Thanks for the reminder about the 2 Peter quote. Not that the Roman Catholics might read it, but we post Scripture for all to see even when they come back with “but the church says” otherwise. Indeed it is frustrating to see how they want to maintain those blinders.

1 Thessalonians 5: 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

12 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. 13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 14 And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt 21 but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22 reject every kind of evil.

23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

“Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died;
this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die.
I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”
The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us (his) flesh to eat?”
Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.
Whoever eats 19 my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.
For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.
Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.
This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”
These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum
Then many of his disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?”
Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you?
What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
But there are some of you who do not believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would not believe and the one who would betray him.
And he said, “For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by my Father.”
As a result of this, many (of) his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him
Jesus then said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?”
Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.”
Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you twelve? Yet is not one of you a devil?”
He was referring to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot; it was he who would betray him, one of the Twelve.” [John 6: 49-71]

The article seems anti-Catholic to me. Note that the word “Catholicism” does not appear anywhere in the article, but the word “Catholic” frequently does.

Parsing words as usual, but failing to present a defense. All of the postings I've read from the RC side are pretty rife with those doctrines of men which are addressed with this sort of thread. It seems you are saying that the word Catholic is being used to represent individual souls. But, at least in my posts, I consider the term to represent Catholicism, and everything for which it stands. To me, it is the world's largest cult. It claims to represent the sole source of salvation, while misquoting Scripture for such a big lie.

Paul wrote a book to the Roman church, long before the beginnings of the Roman Catholic organization. If you study all of those chapters, you will see the error being taught in Roman Catholic doctrine. Everything Paul talks about their is still extant in your theology, which changes according to the whimsy of some pope.

Parse all you want, but don't take a personal offense. If the Holy Spirit is telling you it applies, then start reading your Bible again. You may find the answers you seek within those pages, not in some building on earth, and definitely not coming from Rome! Those in that Roman church were Jews, God's chosen people! Read the entire book and get back to me where it reveals anything close to your catechism!

Really?

When you sin, what do you do?

“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.’ “

My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm:
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;
As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Magníficat ánima mea Dóminum,
et exsultávit spíritus meus
in Deo salvatóre meo,
quia respéxit humilitátem
ancíllæ suæ.

Ecce enim ex hoc beátam
me dicent omnes generatiónes,
quia fecit mihi magna,
qui potens est,
et sanctum nomen eius,
et misericórdia eius in progénies
et progénies timéntibus eum.
Fecit poténtiam in bráchio suo,
dispérsit supérbos mente cordis sui;
depósuit poténtes de sede
et exaltávit húmiles.
Esuriéntes implévit bonis
et dívites dimísit inánes.
Suscépit Ísrael púerum suum,
recordátus misericórdiæ,
sicut locútus est ad patres nostros,
Ábraham et sémini eius in sæcula.

Glória Patri et Fílio
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio,
et nunc et semper,
et in sæcula sæculórum.

Amen.

She became the Mother of God, in which work so many and such great good things are bestowed on her as pass man’s understanding. For on this there follows all honor, all blessedness, and her unique place in the whole of mankind, among which she has no equal, namely, that she had a child by the Father in heaven, and such a Child . . . Hence men have crowded all her glory into a single word, calling her the Mother of God . . . None can say of her nor announce to her greater things, even though he had as many tongues as the earth possesses flowers and blades of grass: the sky, stars; and the sea, grains of sand. It needs to be pondered in the heart what it means to be the Mother of God.

(Commentary on the Magnificat, 1521; in Luther’s Works, Pelikan et al, vol. 21, 326)

Nothing to add as usual, so you desperately cling to posting your nonsense. You persuade no one, only invite ridicule with such trite attempts. Do you really think anyone cares about that lame stuff?I can tell you that I just chuckle and feel sorry…

Yeah, yeah, everyone went to Hell until Martin Luther came along and straightened them out. Or was it Calvin? Or maybe Mike Gendron.

All these lies about the Catholic Church are pretty tiresome. You want to follow your religion, fine. But stop doing the work of the Communist left by attacking every other Christian who doesn’t see it your way.
