Wow.
According to Father Z. "I was informed that some 150 members of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate have petitioned the Pontifical Commission “Ecclesia Dei” this week to establish a separate institute which would use the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite."
Wow.
Why?
How does one get an account?
Good for them. If the Mass is going to be a cause for friction in the community, better to each have their own institutes.
Actually the more I think about it, the more I like it. Another traditional order (can we ever have too many?) but with a Franciscan charism...are there any of those currently?
I’ve never seen Franciscans in vestments that elaborate.
There’s plenty of sedevacantists out here in America and in Europe. There’s also a healthy supply of properly consecrated bishops and priests.
Bishop Sanborne is rector of a traditional seminary in Florida and meanwhile Bishop Daniel Dolan is pastor of Saint Gertrude the Great in suburban Cincinnati, Ohio.
For those who can’t stomach the Novus Ordo new religion mass there are Sunday simulcasts of Tridentine Masses available.
Just consider the TLM to become another “rite” in the Church in order to keep the peace.
Yes, the TLM has been allowed, generally speaking, to keep the peace. And how does the liturgy of hundreds of years all of a sudden take a back seat to an utterly new creation?
I don’t think most people have a clue just how many changes were made to the liturgy, the prayers, the buildings, the adornments such as statues, the focus post 1960. It’s crazy.
But the Church *had* to change them. Uh-huh.
Excellent find!
Has anyone been able to access the password protected post on Fr. Z.’s site? I have an account to comment on posts there and although I logged in, I still can’t access that post. ???
Why does he have a password-protected site?
NYer—have you been able to get at the article? I too have an account, for which I (miraculously) remembered my name and password, and haven’t been getting anywhere either.
(One week to go!!!!)
The site/blog isn’t password protected in order to read it. One needs to register an account in order to post comments. But, a particular post is apparently password protected.
