I have a general question prompted anew by this discourse.

Why should a private business firm not be allowed to choose to serve or not to serve whomever it wishes to serve or not, without giving any reason for exercising that choice?

I concur.

Of course, the problem was, back in the day, businesses refused to serve whites or blacks depending on what business they were.

Instead of letting the marketplace put those crappy businesses out of business, Congress got involved and passed laws.
