Thus in our wealth we seldom reach a point where we say, I have enough and am satisfied.

Witnessed this first hand. Have known both wealth and poverty. I would rather live in a one room apartment than relive the experience of wealth.

As a widow myself, I am always very touched by this Gospel passage.

I thought this point was very trenchant:

1. We moderns have more leisure time than perhaps ever before. Yet having all this time we seem to have less time.

Look at our "holiday season." It's the time of year when, biologically, we're at our slowest. We should be sitting by the fire, telling stories and doing a little mending. Instead, we "have to" be busier than ever.

My family gathers every morning and discusses the calendar to determine whether the laws of physics will allow us to be in all the places we've planned to be. It's insane.

So did you inherit your original wealth? Or did you earn it?

I will send you my PO Box number and you can send any and all of your wealth to me if that will make you feel better. I can also supply you with a one room apartment.
