Not surprising. I believe the Communist Party declared homosexuality illegal, seeing it as spreading “western” decadence. Meanwhile, the Chinese have seen firsthand the horrors of the one-child policy and its effects(i.e., the dearth of female Chinese as just one-example) so I’m not surprised by their traditional(and correct) views on these issues.
Maybe the people are, but the government isn’t. Although I heard recently that the government might be relaxing the “only one child” rule.
One shot, one child ... any other pregnancy must be aborted. Doesn’t sound very conservative when it comes to abortion.
I don’t believe it.
For modern Chinese - having an abortion is like going to have your hair done.
I expect you’d find at least that many Americans who have a “negative opinion of abortion” ... except, you know, when a woman’s pregnant and it would be really hard for her to have the baby ... it’s unpleasant, of course, but she really has no other choice ... (and in China, that’s a lot closer to the truth).
I feel “negatively” about dentistry and colonoscopies.
