A landmark criminal conviction of a Roman Catholic monsignor imprisoned for his handling of sexual-abuse allegations was overturned Thursday by a Pennsylvania appeals court. A three-judge Superior Court panel ordered the release of Msgr. William Lynn, the first U.S. Catholic official ever convicted of a criminal charge related to the alleged coverup of sexual abuse of minors by other priests.

The Catholic church sent such abusive priests to the psychiatrists who promised a cure. When they were “cured” they were sent back to their churches.

Later, the psychiatrists said they were mistaken because there was no cure.

Blame the psychiatrists instead of the church.

That’s what happens when you fall into the mindset of 60s radical liberals who know nothing. But the Catholic Church, just like the rest society was hijacked by the leftists in the 1960-1980s. The only cure for sinning is God, not some leftist shrink.

Has Philly prosecuted ALL who were involved in the coverup of the abortionist who was maming women and killing babies past the legal date?

There were city officials who knew and covered it up, not just members of his staff. WIDESPREAD corruption. MURDER. DEATH. Nothing to see here, move along.

This was a witch-hunt from the get-go.

They all are, aren't they???

In overturning his conviction, the court said it "cannot dispute" that there "was more than adequate evidence" presented at trial showing that Msgr. Lynn "prioritized the Archdiocese's reputation over the safety of potential victims of sexually abusive priests."

But, the court said, that wasn't sufficient to prove that Msgr. Lynn was guilty of child endangerment or had "specific information that [the accused priest] intended or was preparing to molest...any other child."

So it is well known that this creep knew of a child molestion case but yet kept the priest 'safe' who committed the crime...

There's no dispute with that; it's just that the appeals court didn't think that was so bad...Certainly not bad enough to jail a guy for...

And the Catholic religion wants the creep back...WoW...

The guilty parties that worked overtime to convict an innocent man—they include attorneys, judges, newspapers, professional “victims’ groups,” activists, TV talking heads—have been disgraced. This is a monumental win for justice, and a tremendous setback for anti-Catholic bigots. Their goal is to “get a bishop,” and if that doesn’t work, then they settle for the next in line. They are fundamentally dishonest, and now they have been disabled.

Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham began this witch-hunt—she was authorized to pursue sexual misconduct in all religious communities, but instead she selectively chose to focus exclusively on Catholics—and then she passed the baton to her successor, Seth Williams. All of them knew that Msgr. Lynn did not know, or know of, the drug-addicted, lying, scheming, accuser, Billy Doe. They also knew that laws applied ex post facto (e.g., the 2007 amendment of the 1972 child endangerment statute) would not stand scrutiny on appeal. But none of this mattered.

So how does the Philadelphia Inquirer feel today? It refused $58,000 from the Catholic League for an ad earlier in the year that told the truth about this subject. How does David Clohessy, the vindictive, weeping, professional “victims’ group” head feel? How do rapacious lawyers like Jeffrey Anderson, Rebecca Randles, and Marci Hamilton feel?

Msgr. Lynn spent 18 months in prison because of dishonest people who harbor an anti-Catholic agenda. We expect he will soon be released. God bless him.

Congratulations to Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput and attorney Thomas A. Bergstrom for staying the course. Congrats also to Ralph Cipriano who tenaciously reported on this case. And most especially, congrats to Msgr. Lynn’s family for persevering through this unjust trail of event

So the bishop didn't know the molested kid who turned into a drug-addicted, lying, scheming accuser...I don't think that is relevant, is it???

I don't know anything about the accusers but the accuser's accusers sound pretty rabid...

What I was focused on was the opinion of the judges...The judges all determined the charges were accurate but the last set didn't feel the charges warranted jail time...

Msgr. was not the Bishop.
