LOL, good point. I have lived in the Bible Belt for years and those Baptist and Evangelical farm families are huge.

This topic is good to discuss because we have to look at root causes for why there is rampant abortion and contraception and how the Body of Christ, His Church is effected. Clearly this is a fallen world in which we are pilgrims in an unholy land. This fallen world has an “economy” which is not God’s economy. Meaning the real issue is we do not marry our youngsters off once they hit puberty like it was centuries ago. So in modern society we have created this thing called adolescence which would be foreign to the apostles. So we then follow the fallen world and tell our teens to not marry until you finish college or grad school, get a job earn a living then get married. Oh and BTW, don’t have sex until you get married in your 20s etc.

My point when Paul issued his teaching in 1 Corinthians 7 and said get married so you don’t burn in lust, he was talking to then marriage ages of like 13 -16 years old. Some of the young widows he addressed were probably in their 20s and the older widows were probably in their 30s. When we think of older widows we probably come up with 50s or older, today maybe 60s or older. Perhaps the Amish have it right with these matters.

My final point? Our current “economy” of marriage and providing for a family is soooo far out of step with the way things were and should be. This modern fallen world has put some extreme pressures on our young faithful believers. Their God created bodies tell them they should be pairing off and getting hitched much younger than our secular society allows and deems “wise.” Which leads to an immense amount of pressure and temptation which leads some to fornication, masturbation and therefore sin and a society which encourages such promiscuity. I am not making it an excuse for the behavior but pointing out we as Christian parents often encourage this fallen system by telling our young adults to pursue a career wait to get married and thus expose them to the whiles of the devil instead of guiding them through it the way God intended.

I am sure I will get loads of responses on this and admit it was a “red letter” only Roman Catholic on another site who introduced me to this concept.
