NCR [National Catholic Reporter] Suspends Comments on Website
The National Catholic Reporter ^ | 1/6/14 | Dennis Coday

We ordered our Web editor to suspend the commenting feature and to hide all previously posted comments because of the malicious, abusive nature of the comments that have bombarded our site in recent days.

Comments will be suspended indefinitely. NCR editors will explore options that will allow commenting to return in a way that respects our writers, the subjects of our stories, and our readers.

NCR has always stood for open discussion of issues of importance. Our website was among the early adopters of technology that allowed readers' comments on specific articles because we believed such a feature could be a valuable forum for the exchange of ideas. Ideas and discussions were exchanged, and much of it was valuable. Even in the rough-and-tumble Internet world, where arguments tend to more freewheeling, we strove for a long time to keep the forum as open as possible.

Soft heads at NCR have no freaking clue what homosexual activity consists of, they are protecting themselves and their delicate sensibilities from the bitter truth

I wonder if censorship is now becoming a liberal “thing”, in that they are increasingly refusing to allow other voices to be heard, such as in the NCR, or on Reddit in their “science” subdirectory.

It is really a sign of weakness that they are so unable to defend their arguments that they insist on doctrinal purity and agreement, and ban those who disagree, no matter how legitimate their arguments.

A good indicator is that they are very bitter about it, and claim the dissenters are illegitimate or crude, along with claiming their arguments are invalid and should not even be considered.

However, the bottom line, that even radical leftists know, is that they are totally dependent on those who oppose them, to actually consider their arguments. If they are only preaching to the choir, they soon turn on each other and wither away. There is no strength in knee-jerk agreement.

Even in the utterly dictatorial and ruthless regime of Stalin in the Soviet Union, though his chief pseudo-scientist, Trofim Lysenko, was able to completely shut down any argument against his quackery, it sucked all the legitimacy out of his arguments. While everyone had to agree with them, nobody believed them.

National Catholic Reporter is a liberal website that goes against the teachings of the Catholic Church. Don’t waste your time and never get them mixed up with the conservative Catholic site National Catholic Register, which is owned by EWTN.

The Register needs to change its name to end the confusion. I still get them confused, and I pay attention.

Well, they want”a conversation” - only when it goes their way.

Liberal ideas tend to fall apart under critical scrutiny.

The Register should just change their name to “Non-Fishwrap.”

Isn’t the NCR a hobby of dissenting rich Catholics like the Hiltons?
