I think this Pope speaks to/through the media like he is talking to Catholics and other Christians who know what he is talking about - why should he change his language or way of speaking to suit the world. It is the reporters job to do the research and to come to an understanding of what he means. It is also a Catholic’s job to pay attention to the substance of his words and not to go into cerebral and spiritual meltdown every time the media misquotes him because they take the media’s misquote as gospel - it will level out and they will soon understand he is not the pushover they think he is.
