How do I explain it? There is nothing to explain. The Holy Spirit does not reside in heaven. Why would he? Jesus said in John 14:16-17 that the Holy Spirit lives with us and in us forever.

Part of the point is that holy spirit is given no honor, no glory, no credit, by anyone. It's not included in the Godhead. If anyone had thought it was separate person in the Godhead it would seem that they didn't convey the respected honor or respect. And of course they didn't because the doctrine that the holy spirit was a separate person was developed long long after Christ died.

Part of the point is that holy spirit is given no honor, no glory, no credit, by anyone.

Does this above assertion pass the "straight face test?"

3 Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:3)

The apostle Paul, of course, is speaking here in an era where to publicly confess Christ wasn't met with "kudos" -- but usually the opposite -- especially persecution.

But who does Paul give 100% "credit" to for even confessing Christ? The Holy Spirit.

Thus, by his own words, DouglasKC needs to give 100% credit to the Holy Spirit...and confess that he has needlessly maligned the Holy Spirit!

"And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth"> (1 John 5:6)

Here, the Holy Spirit is glorified as "The Truth" -- the same exact glorifying comment Jesus gives Himself in John 14:6: "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life..."

But to show how DouglasKC has apparently flunked Biblical studies of the Holy Spirit, let's keep reading...Peter, Isaiah, Paul:

"If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit OF GLORY and of God rests on you. (1 Peter 4:14)

Where is he who set
his Holy Spirit among them,
12 who sent his GLORIOUS arm of power
to be at Moses’ right hand,
who divided the waters before them,
to gain for himself everlasting renown,
13 who led them through the depths?
Like a horse in open country,
they did not stumble;
14 like cattle that go down to the plain,
they were given rest by the Spirit of the Lord.
This is how you guided your people
to make for yourself a GLORIOUS name. (Isaiah 63:11-14)

Glory is all directly tied to the work of the Holy Spirit during Old Testament times!

But why stop there? The apostle Paul:

2 Corinthians 3:
In 2 Cor. 3:7 -- Paul talks about how glorious the ministry was of Moses because of God's countenance of glory remaining on Moses after he descended the Holy Mountain where he was in God's Presence.

2 Corinthians 3:8-9, 17-18:
8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be EVEN MORE GLORIOUS? 9 If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness!17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Who renews/transforms us?

"He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5)

So Who brings such GLORIOUS "righteousness" (2 Cor. 3:8-9)?

"...the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit." (Romans 15:16)

"But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth." (2 Thess. 2:13)

ALL: "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." (2 Cor. 13:14)

(Tell us, DouglasKC: How do you "have fellowship" with an "it"???)

"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." (And how do you grieve an impersonal "it?") (Eph. 4:30)
