"Yesterday [Saturday, January 11, 2014], there was a public demonstration in the Piazza Santi Apostoli led by Manif pour TousItalia, in defense of the natural family and against the approval of a law concerning homophobia, now in discussion in the Parliament. The purpose of the demonstration (just like those in the past organized in the whole of Italy) is to safeguard freedom of thought and opinion (Article 21 in the Italian Constitution), and to safeguard the natural family, of which the Constitution speaks in Articles 29, 30 and 32, based on marriage between a man and a woman.
...The demonstration was marked by a great number of families, a great number of young people, and also priests. But as the jounrnalist, Marco Tosatte, sagely commented on his blog on La Stampa, of all Bishops, Archbishops and Cardinals that fill the city of Rome, there was only one who was present at the demonstration: the American Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke."

A truly holy man. May God protect him!
(I was rooting for him to be elected pope.)
Has Francis mentioned this in any of his homilies? Before I respond I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed a report.

Don't know. Haven't been reading them of late.
Indeed. God, please bless and protect Cardinal Burke.

Receiving Charles Scicluna, the auxiliary bishop of Malta, Pope Francis expressed shock at a Maltese parliamentary bill to allow same-sex civil unions and adoptions by gay couples.
"I shared my worries concerning the proposed legislation ... He was taken aback when I mentioned this, especially concerning adoptions by same-sex couples," Bishop Scicluna said.
"The Holy Father was taken aback by the fact that a country like Malta, where the majority still practise their Catholic faith, should contemplate adoption of children by same-sex couple."

Want me to do more homework on this? I have Google and I'm not afraid to use it! :o)
This appears to be a different issue. I am asking if Francis ever mentioned what Cardinal Burke and others are demonstrating on in Rome.
I’ve been in and out here and not able to keep on posts. Did #9 cover it? Seems to be with reference to the Italian parliament.
I’m not sure his comments were directly to the issue coming before the Parliament. At least he makes no direct reference as far as I can see. Besides, the article you posted was in September. Cardinal Burke’s demonstration was just this past week. I would think Francis would have made direct comments about this just this past week.

If you want, you can go to Google and sign up foir daily news notifications about Pope Francis, or even specify the notification for "Pope Francis abortion"
This thread is not about abortion.
But thanks for letting me know about notifications....I might try something like that.
Oh. Homophobia. Sorry, I was typing without reading :o)
Not a problem. I think we tend to think of those two issues (gay agenda stuff and abortion) simultaneously.
