Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

I have to admit...I was puzzled. The Scripture for this (Beautiful!) song reads one way (Oh Zion,), while the song reads somewhat differently. Did Handel change the Scripture so it would scan better? That didn't seem right. After a little research I discovered that the Librettist Charles Jennens chose this alternate translation from the King James Bible, and that the Hebrew could have been translated either way, and both are correct.

I am so glad that Jennens chose this particular reading, as the melody that Handel put with it is Wonderful!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Well, FRiend, I am not surprised by that.Coming from Massachusetts, I have seen much from both of the people you mentioned to never trust either of them.
