Charles Clemmens made great use of the OT Scriptures that we now see on Christmas cards all the time. In fact, the entire ACT I of "The Messiah" is often called "The Christmas Section" and is usually performed in December. The Famous "Hallelujah Chorus" doesn't occur till the end of ACT II, but most Christmas performances include it, because without "The Hallelujah Chorus", it just wouldn't be "Handel's Messiah!"
