“Holy God,
Might God,
God, immortal, be adored.”
Names of God Ping!
bm
How about the name of the Father, the name of the Son and the name of the Holy Ghost. Then Peter said unto them be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
Although we in the west associate “Allah” with Islam, if I recall correctly, it is only the Arabic word for “God”. I think Arabic Christians call God “Allah” as well.

I AM THAT I AM... beyond description in words
Since doing a study on the names of God for my Sunday school class, I have grown very fond of using some of these names in my prayers. It helps me concentrate on the particular characteristic of God that I need at the time. For example, right now I'm in the middle of moving, looking for a place to live and a job... my life is in chaos. So, when I pray, I praise God for being HaTsur, the Rock. It reminds me that He is the one constant in my life, that He loves me today as much as He did yesterday and as much as He will a thousand years from today!
Totally cool post. Useful and interesting.

NAU Joel 2:32 "And it will come about that whoever calls on the name Jesus is the English translation from the Koine Greek from the Hebrew name: Joshua. Joshua means YHvH is my salvation or YHvH be my salvation. So when you call on the NAME of Jesus, When Paul says all will be saved who call upon His NAME,
shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach
what does that mean ? NAU Romans 10:13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON
Or 1 Ki. 18:24; 2 Ki. 5:11; Isa. 44:5; 48:2; Zeph. 3:9; Rom. 10:13; 1 Co. 1:2
THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."
of YHvH Will be delivered; For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
There will be those who escape, As YHvH has said, Even among
the survivors whom YHvH calls.
See: 2 Sam. 22:47; Ps. 18:46; Isa. 12:2; 56:1
you are actually saying "YHvH be my salvation" !
Holy Father...
Credo in Deum Patrem omnipotentem;
Creatorem caeli et terrae.
Et in Jesum Christum,
Filium eius unicum, Dominum nostrum;
qui conceptus est
de Spiritu Sancto,
natus ex Maria virgine;
passus sub Pontio Pilato,
crucifixus, mortuus, et sepultus;
descendit ad inferos;
tertia die resurrexit a mortuis;
ascendit ad caelos;
sedet ad dexteram Dei Patris omnipotentis;
inde venturus est
iudicare vivos et mortuos.
Credo in Spiritum Sanctum;
sanctam ecclesiam catholicam;
sanctorum communionem;
remissionem peccatorum;
carnis resurrectionem;
vitam aeternam. Amen.
In English:
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived
by the power of the Holy Spirit,
and born of the Virgin Mary,
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
he will come again
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen

In The Great Courses “Old Testament Part 1” Amy Jill-Levine speculates that “Yahweh” might have been paired to the thousands of ancient Hebrew troops screaming “YAH!” as a horrendous battle cry.
