Satan is Real – Read these Amazing Stories
Patheos ^ | 1/29/14 | Fr. Dwight Longenecker

Latoya Ammons is a women from Indiana who had to have an exorcism for herself and her children. The story is making its way across the news outlets, and unusual for a story like this–the supernatural phenomenon and Latoya and her family’s subsequent deliverance has been treated seriously and objectively. Part of the reason for this is because a hard headed cop named Charles Austin got involved, doubted the paranormal dimension and was soon convinced.

There ARE such things as possession. I know of such a case involving a priest I knew. I don’t have the time right now for the details. But, I will tell you that I was totally unaware of his attempt to save one of his parishioners and yet one night I was awakened by a dream with the priest asking me to pray for him. How strange, it should have been ME asking HIM to pray for me.

Eventually, I learned all the facts. There is NO QUESTION that there is such a thing as demonic possession.

The priest suffered greatly but finally, through prayer, fasting, and pleas for more prayers, overcame the devil’s minion (there are many of them) and the woman relieved of possession.

One thing...IMO, during the interview, the priest was too light-hearted in his description of what he had witnessed. I would think he’d be serious. I know I would be.

His full-time occupation necessitates an immersion in the spiritual life in all its aspects, so I wouldn't necessarily expect him to be awestruck by this particular situation. Also, the Catholic Church carefully examines these cases before becoming involved and only proceeds in those in which the evidence clearly warrants intervention of this sort.

I think these stories make people less inclined to take reality of Satan and evil, and in turn God, less seriously.

I could write a book, but I can’t tell here all of his plots that involved me.

But a couple years after that incident, he got an idea to make me a set of wings. He did that, then he strapped them to my arms, placed a ladder against the house and was trying to push me up so I could fly off the roof. The wings were too heavy for me and I barely made it up the first rung, but I was willing. His antics eventually taught me not to be gullible.

My big brother was one of those people who never met a stranger and found something to like about most everyone. He was a dreamer, but he had a lot of good ideas, too, which were successful. I never saw him that he wasn’t happy, and I miss him a lot.

We lost him back in August when he had a heart attack while he was driving and caused him to run his truck into a wall. Too young.

No, I wouldn’t expect awestruck, and I’m not awestruck of Satan myself. His power is limited and he’s on a short leash.

I just expect a minister to warn others of the seriousness of possession / demonic activity (including the media), to follow scripture on how to approach it (prayerfully - being strong in faith), and to make sure there are no weak ones nearby.

I take it seriously because it’s a dangerous situation.

I didn’t know that. I thought he had been a witness. Maybe that’s why the nervous laughter from him trying to explain something to the media where he didn’t have all the facts.

I probably should know, but I’m not sure about the reference to Charles Moose (?) so I’ll have to look it up!

I just realized, regarding my sentence about the media, it seems I’m saying ministers should warn us of a demonic media — which really isn’t what I was trying to say at all ;)

I don't think you need to excerpt Patheos, so here are some of the more important pieces of the original article:

One of the striking things about this story is that those concerned did not call a Protestant pastor to conduct the exorcism. I was once called to a house in my parish that was haunted and when I asked the people why they didn’t call their own pastor of the local megachurch they just laughed and said their pastor couldn’t handle stuff like that and they knew they needed to call a Catholic priest.

Father Andrew Trapp–a young priest in my own diocese of Charleston records here his interview with a former Satanist in France.

The poor guy probably felt like he was being interrogated by the CIA by this point, but knowing that I might never have this opportunity again, I asked Nicolas one final question. I told him that I had also heard that those who were very deep in Satanism could actually tell whether a communion host had been consecrated or not. For example, they will not steal communion bread from Protestant communion meals, nor will they steal unblessed communion bread for desecration at these “Black Masses.” It would not work because some of the Satanists would immediately recognize that it was just ordinary bread. They would be able to tell that Jesus Christ was not sacramentally present there.

I asked Nicolas whether this also was true. He again replied that it is, and he told us that he could do this himself before his conversion from Satanism. A chill went down my spine. If someone were to put ten identical communion hosts in front of him, nine unconsecrated and one consecrated, he would have been able to point directly and immediately to the host that had been consecrated. I asked him in amazement, “But how were you able to know?!?” He looked at me and the words he spoke are forever burned in my memory: “Because of the hate,” he said. “Because of the burning hate I would feel toward that host, apart from all the others.”

Read Fr. Andrew’s whole account of his encounter with the Satanist here.

The same truths are revealed in both stories. First of all, that the Satan and demons are real. Secondly, it is the Catholic priest and the Catholic Eucharist which they despise, blaspheme, mock and fear.

Satan knows the right address. He believes in the Real Presence. He knows his only real foe in this world is the Catholic Church.

Amazing how many here join him in that regard.

"Satanism is about Destroying the Church"

"The world of Satanism is a secretive one, often vulgar and sometimes dangerous, or so says ex-Satanist and Catholic “revert.” Fifty-one-year-old Deborah [who requested her last name not be used in this article] said that although the beliefs of Satanists vary tremendously, they center on indulgence of the appetites and a mockery of Christianity. Additionally, you’d be surprised to discover that seemingly respectable citizens in your community are members of Satanic covens. As she explained, “They’re people you meet on the street"...

...CWR: Did you attend Black Masses?

Deborah: Yes. They were absolutely disgusting…the Eucharist is defiled…statues and crucifixes were turned upside down; anything to mock Christianity. It is depravity at its worst. Satanism is about indulgence, and destroying the Church and traditional morality..."

Whether or not the left plants fake stories has no bearing on the truth.

Perptrating lies is not a measure of mental strength. In fact, it’s probably the opposite.

Finally, let’s face up to the fact that the only one worth spending time thinking about, the only one worthy of praise is the Lord Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day as foretold in the holy scriptures.

Brian,
I agree with you but don’t forget your brothers and sisters in the LCMS and WELS also believe in the Real Presence. We differ, I know, on how it happens, but it is the same Real Presence. Luther (I know he’s not a favorite of the RCC) defended against Zwingli’s heresy stating that Christ said, “This IS my body.”, not “This represents or symbolizes my body.” I think the Latin was “Meum Corpus est.” (Please forgive if I butchered the Latin.)

Every Sunday, I am forgiven my sins and made confident in my life eternal because, like you, I know that Christ’s True Body and True Blood are present in the Lord’s Supper.

I point this out because I want you and other Catholics to understand that you are not alone in this belief, and for no other reason. I am simply amazed to see how many people think that the Catholic church is the only church that believes in the Real Presence.

Granted, there are only a few confessions that believe this, but we are with you. We don’t disagree with someone when they’re right.

God bless.

And it is the Catholic Eucharist, consecrated by a Catholic priest who has been ordained by a successor of the Apostles, which is the target of theft and profanation by satanists. They aren't interested in symbolic representations.

God bless.
