For those who have never been there, the Basilica is one of the oldest buildings in Jerusalem and is under Palestinian control.
It still has smoke stains on the walls when torches lit the interior.
Terrorists hid in it back in 2000 during the intifada.
It probably needs lots of repairs but it sounds more like a Palestinian work project.
My wife and I were just there last October. The Basilica definitely needs a lot of repairs. The adjoining St. Catherine’s appears to be in great shape though.
