8. Finally, on the matter of artificial contraception the responses might be characterized by the saying, that train left the station long ago. Catholics have made up their minds and the senses fidelium suggests the rejection of Church teaching on this subject.
Thank you. My personal toe cents is they the church does and should not try to “ catch up with” either the pagan culture or even necessarily the views of its parishioners — at least when there is clear Biblical teaching on a subject. Rather, the priests need to do their best to preach and explain better to pull errant parishioners and , insomuch as possible, the larger pagan culture into closer harmony with core church teachings. Having said that, the church certainly can try to be as welcoming and understanding as possible with people ( without abandoning core teachings). If somebody feels left out, it may be due to their own decisions and not to the church. Jesus was very forgiving but did instruct the forgiven to sin no more. I think that’s a good guide for the church. Just my thoughts. Worth what u paid fir them.
I still don’t know where this is all heading but I’m still shaking my head at yet another post-VII novelty: giving surveys to Catholics to express their opinions on Church teaching and using them to help take future, official Church action.
This sounds so Protestant.
