Prtotestism came about because the Catholic church forbid non-clergy from reading the bible and interpreting it themselves. The Pope and his priest set themselves up above the common people. It remains that way today. Why should anyone have to confess to a priest? That is the MAIN reason Luther started the schism in the church.

Your arms too short to box with God.

Non-clergy were always allowed to read the Bible. And in fact, passages from the Bible are read at Mass every day.

Catholics read the Bible! Where are you getting your strange ideas? Some pamphlet? Some preacher who hates Catholicism?

That is not the main reason Luther broke away. The main reason was his own disobedience.

“Prtotestism came about because the Catholic church forbid non-clergy from reading the bible and interpreting it themselves.”

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

That is one of the biggest lies told by protestants ever!! I was told that lie as a Baptist! First of all not every one owned a Bible because it was freaking expensive! Only the church had one and people who were as rich as Bill Gates! Bibles were not on paper until the Gutenberg press but on animal hides and were the cost of 4 years wages. So yes the only copies were chained down in churches because like today back then were was a black market and a stolen bible was worth a fortune.

Let us all remember that back then no one could freaking read! Unless you were clergy or royalty that is. This is why so many churches had stained glass windows with pictures that told stories. This was Bible stories for the poor who could not read. You people have become so spoiled with your free Bible from the Gideons that you have no idea what it was like centuries ago. Today the Gideons give away Bibles and kids use the pages as rolling paper for marijuana!

“Prtotestism came about because the Catholic church forbid non-clergy from reading the bible and interpreting it themselves”

Not only that, an enlightened flock could then see what Pharisees the Catholic Hierarchy had become and the fear was that they would rise up and rebel.

As it is, a full on laity rebellion is probably what is now needed in all Protestant and Catholic churches against clergy who are trying to foist all manner of evil doctrines on their flocks. It’s time to leave Babylon!

That is the MAIN reason Luther

If that's the case, I'm sure you have Luther commenting on it. Let's have that link.
