My understanding is that is not what they do and I had this conversation many times over the years with Catholics.

Have you ever asked anyone to pray for you? That’s asking intercession.

At the Wedding of Cana, Mary told Jesus that the couple was out of wine. She interceded for them.

Then her last words in the Bible: “Do whatever he tells you.”

Seeking intercession is beyond Adoration.

Paul, in his letters, asks people to pray for him. That's "seeking intercession," any way you slice it. Was Paul an idolater?
