Half the people on Earth are writing to me about this.  Let’s file this under “Lighter Fare”?

An Ursuline sister sings on one of those “who has a talent?” TV shows in Italy.

Since half the planet is writing about this, I post.   If you have snarky blah blah about sisters not singing on TV shows, just keep it to yourself, unless you can think of something original and interesting and less bilious than I expect.

TOPICS: Catholic; Religion & Culture
KEYWORDS:
You may have seen this already on TV or something. If you haven't, please take a few minutes to watch it.

Pay particular attention to the facial reactions (throughout the entire video, not just the song in the beginning) of the guy wearing the white shirt and black watch cap.

Everything old is new again.
I remember when the singing nun was on radio all the time.

Now Dominique nique nique is playing in my head...

Things did not go well for the Singing Nun after her fifteen minutes of fame. Multiple attempts to extend her singing career failed, she became estranged from Catholicism and eventually left the convent, shacked up with a female companion, and she and her companion eventually committed suicide in a suicide pact.

"If you have snarky blah blah about sisters not singing on TV shows, just keep it to yourself . . . "

Well, it seems to me that the content of the song is critical in evaluating the meaning of this, and I don't know the lyrics to the song. However, her demeanor suggests that it's some kind of secular love song, which probably is not appropriate for a nun committed to celibacy. Correct me if I'm wrong about the nature of the song.

It should not be surprising or even newsworthy that a nun can sing well, because millions of people can sing well, not just the few hundred who have professional recording contracts and make the charts.

The whole thing seemed almost like a spoof, particularly when they showed the reaction of the other nuns standing offstage. I almost expected Austin Powers to walk into the picture.

It was Alicia Keys' "No One."

And while one can snark, one could also take the charitable route and think she was singing about her love for her Spouse.

Bingo! She was singing/praying to her love for Jesus Christ. It was very beautiful. And J-Ax was the only one who understood what she was doing which is why he was tearing up. The words of the song made it pretty clear. People are so divorced from the spiritual realm that they make it all about relationships which is why he probably tweeted the following:
