So, what, he is supposed to stop ministering to people in distress just because they may misunderstand what he is saying to them?
By that standard every Priest, Minister and Rabbi on the planet needs to retire right now.
Well that's god to know.
My ex-wife put me away for a computer repair man she met on the Internet. My new wife put her cheating ex-husband away.
So technically neither of us committed adultery.
Either that, or he's not supposed to say anything without his lawyer being present.
I have seen NOTHING that would indicate this woman misunderstood or misrepresented what the Pope told her. On the contrary what this women is saying the Pope told her corresponds exactly with Cardinal Kasper's recent talk to the meeting of Cardinals, a talk he was appointed by the Pope to present and for which the Pope praised his serene and pastoral theology.
I see an awful lot of wishful thinking among the defenders of this Pope but very little reason to believe the wishful thinkers are anything more than that. The body of evidence before us points to this woman having honestly and mostly correctly reported what the Pope said to her.
After the Synod on the Family this fall, the debate will be over. I truly hope I'm a BIG loser in this debate but I fear the Pollyanna's will be gravely disappointed.
