They are now emphatically deferring to quote of a pope, when they had total disregard before? Hmmmm......

Pope Benedict NAILED it with his statement that we are suffering from moral relativism.
He was as right as he could be.
From the National Catholic Register:
In his homily to the 2005 conclave that would soon choose him as the successor of Pope John Paul II, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger warned those attending,
We are moving toward a dictatorship of relativism which does not recognize anything as for certain and which has as its highest goal ones own ego and ones own desires.
This is a warning that Pope Benedict has not tired of repeating during his pontificate.

The mother of one student reported her sons comments, We had the worst assembly today, we tried to leave but were made to sit down. There are students in this school who are openly gay and some who are not out yet. Obviously, they felt bullied. What are they going to feel and who are they going to whine to when God sends them to hell?
They going to tell God that *It's not faaaiiirrrr*?

As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.
We live in a country where people are bombarded day and night with messages encouraging them to following their feelings and full of both shrinks and pundits that say the cure for everything is following your own feelings and denying yourself nothing.
The result is the self-defiling, self-destructive, society we live in and churches in this country have been going out of their way to avoid confronting the reality of our collapse.

If there is no such thing as right and wrong, then it is pointless trying to have a discussion on what is right and wrong. All that remains is your opinion against my opinion and therefore the one who best uses the tools of emotional blackmail and bullying will prevail.Yeah, all that moral relativism introduced into the schools in the 70s has created the emotivism of today.
