Wonderful news and powerful reprimand.
I was disappointed that they are going to let the LCWR go ahead with its conference, heretics and all, but certainly this is a good strong statement and it sounds like the basis for action in the future.
The LCWR should be disbanded. There is no reason for their existence; they’re a band of nutty old ladies who have come up with their own goofy religion and are now just happily living off the dwindling resources of the religious orders they have destroyed. Get rid of it.
UPDATE: American Catholic put it this way:
[...]
Anyone who reads Cardinal Müllers remarks objectively and carefully will see that he is not playing poker with the LCWR. Although gracious and respectful, the Cardinal was not bluffing as he carefully details, point by point, how the LCWR has been less than fully responsive to the Doctrinal Assessment and what its leadership needs to do. Without drawing a line in the sand, Cardinal Müller intimates there is a line in the sand when he concluded:
The LCWR, as a canonical entity dependent on the Holy See, has a profound obligation to the promotion of that faith as the essential foundation of religious life. Canonical status and ecclesial vision go hand-in-hand, and at this phase of the implementation of the Doctrinal Assessment, we are looking for a clearer expression of that ecclesial vision and more substantive signs of collaboration.
Read the entirety of Cardinal Müllers remarks because they are very important. They represent the other side of the story, the one that the National Catholic Reporter isnt telling except by negative example. The simple fact is that the LCWR is in error theologically. Despite the image they may want to project, these are not the sisters whose heroic witness over the generations in U.S. Catholic schools, hospitals, and social service agencies is seared upon the memory of those many Catholics and non-Catholics alike their predecessors once selflessly served. These sisters are promoting an ideology that is beyond the boundaries of the Catholic faith.

Dryly, Wikipedia explains:
Conscious evolution refers to the claim that humanity has now acquired the ability to choose what the species Homo Sapiens becomes in the future, based on recent advancements in science, medicine, technology, psychology, sociology, and spirituality. Conscious evolution assumes that human beings may be positioned at the crest of the ongoing evolution of the universe.
**An example may help at this point. It saddens me to learn that you have decided to give the Outstanding Leadership Award during this years Assembly to a theologian criticized by the Bishops of the United States because of the gravity of the doctrinal errors in that theologians writings. This is a decision that will be seen as a rather open provocation against the Holy See and the Doctrinal Assessment. Not only that, but it further alienates the LCWR from the Bishops as well.**
IN other words, ladies, don’t disobey.

NEW YORK (AP) The Vatican official overseeing the crackdown on the largest umbrella group for U.S. nuns is pressing forward with the overhaul under Pope Francis.
Cardinal Gerhard Mueller, the Vatican orthodoxy watchdog, reprimanded officers of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious for planning to honor a theologian who had been criticized by U.S. bishops and said the sisters must show more willingness to cooperate.
Mueller made the remarks in a meeting last Wednesday with the group’s leaders in Rome. He apologized repeatedly for speaking so bluntly, while reminding the sisters their organization held its status within the church only through Vatican approval.
