Satanic Mass Organizers: Catholic Outcry Paranoid, Intolerant
Catholic News Agency ^ | 5/9/14 | Michelle Bauman

Cambridge, Mass., May 9, 2014 / 12:10 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- A Harvard student group organizing a re-enactment of a satanic black mass on campus has dismissed Catholic critics, calling their views arrogant and their objections ignorant and intolerant.

“Satanists have a ritual that they perform for their own affirmative reasons,” the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club told CNA May 8, adding that these reasons “currently have absolutely nothing to do with Catholicism beyond the symbols themselves.”

“Offense is anachronistic and based on intolerance and ignorance about the practice (of) Satanism.”

The club has faced controversy since it announced its plans to host a re-enactment of a satanic black mass on campus May 12. It described the ceremony as an educational event that is part of a larger series exploring various cultural practices.

The group said objections that have been raised to event are “closed-minded,” arguing that it is “paranoia” to think the satanic rituals and practices are designed to degrade the Catholic faith.

“Actually a Satanic mass is quite fitting for that cesspool posing as a school considering how every problem this nation faces today is a direct result of its graduates.”

And hardly surprising within an Archdiocese which presents an award in honor of Jack Connors (Obama fundraiser and financial supporter of pro-abortion causes). Spiritual warfare has been abandoned in favor of appeasement to the spirit of the world.

“Boston Archdiocese Giving Award in Honor of Obama Fundraiser
For those who missed it, the Boston Archdiocese just announced they will be giving out an award on Oct 9 named in honor of Archdiocesan Finance Council member and Obama fundraiser, Jack Connors, Jr, who also financially supports pro-abortion causes. There are several aspects of this award and honor that Boston Catholics should be concerned about. Read on....”

I was taught at an young age that the occult is not a toy or a game-that evil can be called on, and can be responsible for bad things, and to leave that stuff alone or be prepared for terrible consequences.

But I don’t suppose it ever occurred to anyone in charge of this idiocy at Harvard that maybe acting out the calling up of Satan, Lucifer, Beelzebub, lord of the flies, or whatever is a bad idea that could do harm to gullible students?

We ask for God’s blessings, and his intervention into our lives when we pray, with or without a rosary or at an altar, whether on our knees alone, or at work with other people. Anyone foolish enough to do the same with the personification of all that is evil deserves whatever they get...

I agree. I have great solidarity with Our Christian Brethren whose faith is being mocked.

Perhaps a thing like this will bring us together against the REAL enemy!

Fellas, don’t pee on my shoes and tell me it’s raining, okay? And don’t say you're going to have a Satanic parody of a Catholic Mass (with a for-reals consecrated Host...nah, jk, it’s just an unconsecrated wafer...or is it?...Really, guys? I believe you all should get your butts kicked for that little bit of cutesy-wutesiness alone) and then pull out the paranoid-bigot card when the Catholics tell you you’re sacrilegious either way, we’re just haggling over how much. Really, never mind us Catholics. The Puritans who founded Harvard thought we were the Whore of Babylon, and I guarantee you they’d be no happier over Satanic services going on in Cambridge than we are. Seriously, stop this nonsense. If committing sacrilege doesn’t bother you, this should: As Terrence Howard said in “Four Brothers”, you keep knocking on the devil’s door long enough, sooner or later, somebody gonna answer you.

What a dumb comment by these so called “re-enacters”. It is intolerant to say that those who attack you intend to attack you?

Let them re-enact a cross burning by white robed and hooded gangs and call intolerant those who point out that such a gathering is racist. Even the “re-enactment” of it.

Besides, “freedom of thought” is exactly the justification one would expect from these people. That makes it an evasion in all likelihood. And apparently, they haven’t the fortitude to state their true intentions.

Fr. Drea’s letter and invitation explain themselves...

Dear Members of the Harvard Catholic Community,

As we celebrate these beautiful days of the Eastertide and give thanks for the gift of redemption that our Lord Jesus Christ won for us by conquering sin and death once, for all, it pains me to write to you today in order to comment on some distressing news. As you are aware by now, a student group from the Harvard Extension School, The Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club, plans to present on Monday, May 12 on campus a “black mass”, an act of satanic worship that mocks the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass – the center of our faith and worship.

This is truly an affront to our Catholic faith and Catholics must unite in prayer in order to combat this act of evil and hatred. As the University attempts to veil this ‘presentation’ under the guise of ‘academic freedom and expression’, people of good will recognize it for what it truly is: an act of hatred and ridicule toward the Catholic Church and her faithful.

Cardinal Seán O’Malley has expressed his great distress over this and we are assured of his prayers for our Catholic community at this time. The Archdiocese of Boston released the following statement:

“The Catholic community in the Archdiocese of Boston expresses its deep sadness and strong opposition to the plan to stage a “black mass” on the campus of Harvard University in Cambridge.

For the good of the Catholic faithful and all people, the Church provides clear teaching concerning Satanic worship. This activity separates people from God and the human community, it is contrary to charity and goodness, and it places participants dangerously close to destructive works of evil.

In a recent statement, Pope Francis warned of the danger of being naïve about or underestimating the power of Satan, whose evil is too often tragically present in our midst. We call upon all believers and people of good will to join us in prayer for those who are involved in this event, that they may come to appreciate the gravity of their actions, and in asking Harvard to disassociate itself from this activity.”

As Senior Catholic Chaplain, it is my duty to offer my pastoral support to all in our community. And so, I call on the entire Harvard Catholic community to respond to this egregious action as our Lord Jesus would: with prayer and calm. We pray for all associated with this act that they may turn away from evil and be converted to the Truth of Christ in their lives. We pray as well for spiritual strength from our Heavenly Father that will guide us through this time of testing for us all.

I therefore invite all Catholics and people of good will in the community to gather for a Eucharistic Holy Hour and Benediction this coming Monday evening, May 12th, from 8.00 to 9.00 PM in St. Paul’s Church at the corner of Bow and Arrow Streets in Harvard Square. As a community, we will be strengthened by uniting in prayer before of Eucharistic Lord asking for His grace to be his faithful followers in a world that is shrouded in darkness.

On behalf of Fathers Salzmann, Westcott and Armano, I pray that you will join us on Monday night for this important time of prayer at St. Paul’s.

With the promise of my prayers for you and for our community through the intercession of our Blessed Lady, I remain

Yours in the Risen Lord,

Father Michael E. Drea
Pastor and Senior Chaplain

Letter to Harvard President Drew G. Faust about the Satanic Mass to Take Place on the Campus of Harvard

Dear President Faust,
I am writing to ask you to use your office to intervene to shut down the terribly ill-advised and totally insensitive Satanic Mass that’s supposed to take place on Monday, May 12 at the Queens Head Pub within Memorial Hall.
To argue, as the Extension School’s Press Release did, that it’s about education or freedom of expression or assembly or religion is silly. We all know that if there were to be a seance to communicate with the soul of Adolf Hitler, Harvard would never countenance it, first because we’re clearly dealing with conjuring evil, and second because it would be terribly injurious to Jewish members of the Harvard community and the wider community.
We also all know that if an “independent student organization” were trying to host an event in which there would be reenacting the burning of a copy of the Koran, it likewise would never be permitted, because Harvard would never associate itself with the desecration of Islam’s sacred text or allow its name or property to be used in something that would obviously outrage the spiritual sensibilities of Muslims.
A ceremony invoking Satan, mocking the Catholic Mass and desecrating what Catholics believe to be the Body of Jesus Christ — or if, implausibly, an unconsecrated host will be used, something that is at least meant to symbolize the Eucharist — should be treated in the same way.
It’s not enough for Harvard to put out a press release saying that Harvard doesn’t “endorse the views or activities of any independent student organization.” Harvard simply would never allow itself or its properties to be associated with events that mock the religious beliefs, desecrate the sacred texts, or insult the spiritual sensitivities of Jews or Muslims. Likewise it wouldn’t allow its reputation or institution to be affiliated in any way with the activities or views of an “independent student organization” that was reenacting the lynchings of African Americans or homophobic attacks or violence against women. Harvard would act decisively in those situations, both out of just concern for its own reputation but also out of moral outrage against such insensitivity that clear thinking, ethical people immediately recognize as evil.
You have a special responsibility over Harvard’s reputation as well as occupy the most prominent position of all to demonstrate what Harvard stands for. Please grasp that Harvard’s present acquiescence to allowing its campus to be the setting for this Satanic Mass and its up-until-now anemic response have already brought the University local, national and international derision. The Founders of Harvard would, I think, be ashamed that a school to which they gave the motto Veritas: Christo et Ecclesiae would allow itself to be used in any way whatsoever as the staging for Satanic worship.
Yesterday I was asked by about two dozen people about what my alma mater was doing in allowing this mockery of Catholicism and this acquiescence in the conjuring of evil. I replied that I can’t fathom how this “dear mother” would have lost its capacity to see clearly and promptly how outrageous this is and that for the first time in my life I’m really embarrassed to be associated with Harvard. I’m sure there are many other alumni who are similarly ashamed.
There’s still time to remedy this situation and clearly communicate that mockery and desecration of the religious rites, objects, and sensitivities of others have no place at Harvard.
By shutting this event down and not just dissociating itself from what was supposed to happen but by forcefully condemning it, you would not only remedy the damage to Harvard’s reputation that has already taken place but set the type of example for educational institutions and the broader culture that Harvard has prided itself in setting for 378 years.
I’m hoping that you will use your office to respond as strongly to this insensitivity as NBA Commissioner Adam Silver recently used his office to respond to Donald Sterling’s racist comments.
That’s what this situation warrants. That’s what you have the power to do. And that’s what I’m asking and praying that you will do.
Respectfully,
(Fr.) Roger Landry, AB 92

“homophobic attacks or violence against women”

Oh, my, Father Landry, have you really accepted the validity of the lunatic notion of homophobia? And that “violence against women” is worse than violence against men, and needs its own set of laws?

Oh, my.

Building on my post 89 other thread in respect to posting from semi-limp Vatican 2-accepting “bishop” Roger Landry:

Is Harvard hosting a Black Mass?—UPDATED

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/3153374/posts?q=1&;page=81

Some of us ‘denouncers’ of V2 will point to the pronunciations of the V2/Novus Ordo apparatus when they get it right. Their left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing but one of the hands happens to be correct at times.

Indeed at times its all we have in appeal to the uninformed public that will only respect authority of same V2 apparatus, just as the many a solid conservative will cite Lamestream media ‘coming around’ to the correct conclusion belying a hole in their dike, their veritable broken clock being right twice a day in attempt to ‘convert’ uninformed public that only respects same Lamestream media authority.
Trying to make best of bad situation, which is what we have everywhere.

O’Malley and The Pretenders on Lake St., Brighton MA (and Landry of Fall River, indeed head of 2nd MA diocese-there are but the two) get it right once in a while...rather nearly right.

Roger Landry is limp /PC all right. So its clear here Landry went to Harvard (huh?!) and its only the first time he’s “really embarrassed”??? What about when Ahmadinejad appeared there for one thing? Sure they’ve had some real wretches speak there (Angela Davis 2003 look that up, Gloria Steinem off top of head).

I’m stupefied I’ve missed Harvard’s motto was shortened to “Veritas” from “Veritas: Christo et Ecclesiae” per Landry letter. Has it been officially so shortened?

I lived around Harvard a couple years as student early 1970’s but in typical liberal/agnostic fog. Since my reconversion years later I’ve picked up on things about Puritan Increase Mather (made president HU 1701) with son Cotton (famous presider of Salem Witch trials) attempting to finetune Yale policies not a couple decades after Yale founding coincidently 1701…feeding the thesis I’ve encountered that Yale was founded in direct reaction to father’s dissatisfaction with HU.

From Wiki section Yale U: Meanwhile, a rift was forming at Harvard between its sixth president Increase Mather and the rest of the Harvard clergy, whom Mather viewed as increasingly liberal, ecclesiastically lax, and overly broad in Church polity. The feud caused the Mathers to champion the success of the Collegiate School in the hope that it would maintain the Puritan religious orthodoxy in a way that Harvard had not.[12]

Someone might help to confirm something too I’ve caught in past on Yale president near after Civil War decrying that dark forces (perhaps naming freemasonry-ah that Skull and Bones) corrupting Yale.

BTW Memorial Hall at Harvard was constructed as a memorial to the Civil War veterans of the North modeled after a classic catherdral. . It has been historically used for academic purposes in the large hall (nave-indeed huge) with a theatre in the “apse” and major entrances at the ends of trancepts forming a generous entry hall between (where the sanctuary would have begun in classic church plan…classic end-of-nave entry is very diminished as there is almost no porch/vestibule…basically a secure fire exit probably since inception ). The whole thing is surely Masonic and I can’t say I’ve encountered anything like it in my travels and observations as an architecture buff. Well over a decade ago basement was transformed into a minor student center of sorts, where this ‘pub” is. ..award-winning design by Yalie Robert Venturi.

Landry should have PLENTY to be embarrassed about, including the Feeney fiasco pre-V2 but I guess that’d be before Landry’s time …not to fully endorse Fr. Fenney but he said no Catholic should go there, to which his right-hand gal (a nun whose name I can’t recall) said NO ONE should go to Harvard.

This wouldn’t be a bad time to look into St. Benedict’s Center wars. It was confrontation between young RFK and Feeney that brought in Cardinal Cushing at daddy Joe’s prompting. I’m sure those such as the Kennedys regarded such as archaic Boston College boosterism.

SSPX would have said it differently.

BTW I’m a sedevacantist and even would have to qualify forwarding SSPX lit below if it was off as some of its post V2 lit is, but Archbishop Lebfevre’s denunciation of this article of V2 is a classic and is really the point-entirely corrupt ideas on Religious Liberty:

Archbishop Lefebvre Concerning Religious Liberty
http://www.sspxasia.com/Documents/Archbishop-Lefebvre/Apologia/Vol_two/Chapter_15.htm

We are in a terrible state of things as indeed we are in 2 Thess 2:3.
[3] Let no man deceive you by any means, for unless there come a revolt first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,

Christ Have Mercy...

God Bless the protesters, V2/Novus Ordo accepting or not.

Not as far as the one they're about to foolishly "explore", but they'll be giving him an opening into their souls, and the ultimate journey won't be much fun.
