United States Secretary of State John Kerry reminded the Boston College Class of 2014 that its responsibilities don't stop once diplomas are received.
Echoing the words of St. Ignatius, Kerry urged BC graduates to "Set the World Aflame," when they step foot off campus and into the real world.
Kerry's politically-charged speech touched on the meaning and value of human dignity, calling it a "struggle" fought across all towns and across the entire world. Human dignity, Kerry said, is achieved "when families have access to clean water and clean power."
Specifically, Kerry thrust the "challenge" and ongoing debate of climate change into the laps of BC grads, stating "If we do nothing, and it turns out the critics and the naysayers, members of the flat-Earth society are wrong, we are risking the future of our entire planet."
"What's the worst that could happen?" Kerry queried, before suggesting that the benefits of addressing the climate change question added jobs, cleaner energy sources, innovation make the world a better place.
It's not a matter of politics or scientific research, Kerry said, "It's a matter of willpower."

Set the world aflame (with Islam).
There.. fixed what he meant.
Ohmygosh...I was hoping this was satire. Someone from this administration which is responsible for setting huge portions of the globe aflame is telling the grads to set the world aflame??
Vile individuals. Especially that moron at the upper left playing at Cardinal.
Won’t that cause more global warming? Does make me wonder if these idiots ever listen to themselves.
What a black mark for Boston College! We are already committed to another year’s tuition but forget contributions. Choices have consequences that last longer than the supposed good publicity of giving more limelight to this clown.
Cardinal O’Malley, top left. Boycotted pro-abort Enda Kenny last year, but as we see, pro-abortion politicians in his own back yard fall into a different category.
The brain power in that picture couldn’t electrify a 60 watt, LED lightbulb.. :)
"If you are what you should be, you will set the whole world ablaze." ... St. Catherine of Siena, as popularized by Saint Pope John Paul II the Great at World Youth Day 2000
What a dope.
The BC grads in my family are disgusted by this, and by Cardinal O'Malley's attendance at the ceremony.
But there in spirit.
Kerry is still trying to get over having “Christmas in Cambodia” seared into his brain.
so they can remold the world nearer to the heart’s desire.
“Set the World Aflame,”
Fire bad...globull warming ya know
