The Monastery of St. Augustine¹s Garden was opened by Bishop Paul Meng Qinglu, from the diocese of Taiyuan; and Bishop Wu Jinwei, from Yuncheng, together with some 50 priests at a concelebrated a Mass in the courtyard of the sprawling building with over 1,700 people who gathered for the occasion and four bands provided musical accompaniment.

Absolutely amazing. Whodda ever thunk?

It is my hope that the ever growing Christian presence in China —both Catholic and Protestant turns into something so phenomenal that the average person whether Christian or not looks towards the “Church” as a vehicle for providing “the works of mercy” instead of the government. Because of the one child policy many couples are forced to take care of not only their child, but also 4 elderly parents—and many are not able to do this—so a lot of old people fall to the wayside.
