Church of England to Bar Clergy from Joining Parties Seen as Racist

(Reuters) - The Church of England may dismiss clergy if they back political parties promoting the "sin of racism", its bishops agreed on Tuesday in an unprecedented move by the mother church of the world's 80 million Anglicans.

William Fittall, secretary general of the Church's General Synod, said they would be disciplined if they joined or sought support for the British National Party or National Front, whose views the Church considers incompatible with its teachings.

It was the first time Church of England clergy have been banned from joining a political party.

The move is likely to be welcomed by many congregations in the worldwide Anglican Communion, particularly in Africa, where relations have been strained by differences over women bishops, gay clergy and other liberal reforms in western churches.

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, spiritual leader of the world's Anglicans, has faced an uphill struggle in his first year in office to re-unite the deeply divided Communion.

Oh, good, he’s “anti-racist”. That has to be a good thing. Yes, sarcasm.

This type of garbage is why I am no longer an Episcopalian.

My faith is with God, and is not influenced by the political hierarchy of a world wide church.

Wait till they say that clergy can’t be involved with groups which support traditional marriage or the traditional family.

I would expect that to come from liberal leaning denominations such as Unitarians.

Now that support for traditional marriage is considered a hate crime, or bigoted, look for these sorts of litmus tests to be applied.

HAHAHAHAHHAHA, but they will allow them to support parties who back the SIN (No, wait, ABOMINATION) of sodomy.

Time for African churches to sever all ties with this monstrosity. Let them rot on the vine.

Second thought on the U. S. All clergy would need to register “Independent” and then hopefully vote conservative.

But Nancy Pelosi is given Communion by CATHOLIC bishops—even though, unlike the Anglican church, the Catholic bishops officially oppose abortion. Officially, but not really.

Let’s face it, in England “racist” is just a code word for Christian. Thus, clergy in England cannont support Christian political parties.
