We must never glance at what is good in ourselves, much less ponder over it, but we should search out what is wrong and what is lacking. This is an excellent way of remaining humble. -- Saint Vincent de Paul

Isaiah 64:6 We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

Which is exactly why our works do NOTHING to contribute to our salvation. They are worthless, like filthy rags in God's sight.

How can any person think that by adding our own polluted works to the gift of salvation God offers us, it will complete our faith and please God and satisfy Him?

God demands PERFECTION from us, something it is absolutely impossible for us to give Him because everything we do is stained and corrupted by sin.

The Catholic church is doing people a disservice by teaching or even implying that our filthy rags works somehow appease God and count towards our salvation. It's a deceit of the enemy.
