If the implementation of Common Core in the schools of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee is not enough to make you think twice about sending your kids to Catholic school there, Archbishop Listecki's response letter to concerned parents might be. A growing number of Catholic educators and parents have been expressing concerns about the implementation of Common Core in Catholic schools, with some dioceses rejecting its use. This mirrors a generalized concern about common core throughout the country, but with added emphasis and concern about Catholic identity. Catholics in Milwaukee started a petition and sent a letter with their concerns to the Archbishop as well as bringing their concerns to the attention of the press, something that clearly bothered the Archbishop.
Whatever one's opinion on Common Core might be, Archbishop Listecki's response letter to concerned parents is equally distressing in its dismissal of such concerns as it is in its implication that the Archbishop and "experts" know better than parents about what is good for their children's education.

I’m fortunate enough to live in a diocese that has rejected this POS

God bless Bishop Zubik
Anybody who writes a phrase like “schools operate in my diocese under my direction. Period.” has lost me and probably has lost about half of the enrollment of the schools.
Is he taking lessons in the Obama dictatorial use of the irritating “Period.”?
A proof of the divine institution of the Catholic Church is that no merely human institution would have lasted two thousand years run by this clutch of morons, that is, the hierarchy.
Amen.
Wow! What a pathological maroon!
A thought:
A great many of my sins have made me blind and numb to many of my own faults. I grow in grace and insight, albeit slowly, through the forbearance and prayers of others.
Let’s pray for our bishops and archbishops and whatnot.
It’s always good to pray for them, but we also have the duty to tell them what we think.
Is Abp Listeki channeling Obama with this arrogant “Period.” nonsense?
This is guaranteed to make the diocesan schools collapse. Many people won’t say anything to His Arrogancy, but will simply enroll their kids in a charter school or homeschool.
We have a duty to speak up, even if it makes us unpopular.
I suspect that this Abp is ill, under a great deal of stress, or maybe both.
After the decades of “the Spirit of Vatican II,” the child abuse mess, and the endless peculations, it is simply ludicrous for any bishop to take lay expressions of doubt as an insult. We have as much of a duty to grow the virtue of prudence as he does, and his office gives no guarantee that he is more virtuous than any particular sheep of his flock.
His trampling down the well and clearly articulated idea of subsidiarity shows that there are grounds for at least a polite skepticism about his mastery of some aspects of dogma.
I do hope that well-reasoned and respectful, but FIRM, letters flood into his office.
I would never argue for Bishops being elected by the people, but I think I could argue for the people being allowed to vote out a Bishop.
Based on the above comments, any chance you've read "Goodbye, Good Men"?
Not only read it but helped arrange for the author to speak at a conference in Dayton.
I just started reading it and have a feeling it’s going to ‘splain a lot.
Excellent book.
Milwaukees Assistant Superintendent of Catholic Schools made this comment a year and a half ago: We do believe that they [the Common Core Standards] are a good thing for us to engage in. Being in a state and city involved with the Parental Choice Program really puts us on the front lines of accountability and we want to make sure the message is clear that we [sic] equal partners in preparing our students for college and career while remaining steadfast in our identity as Catholic schools.
My question is: Accountable to whom?
