In the New York Archdiocese as then ruled by Cardinal Edward Egan, the offense of saying this Mass and publishing tracts in its favor was treated as a far more serious crime and scandal than clerical pederasty.

Interesting, that.....

Someone needs to get their priorities straight.

I think he's talking about the zeitgeist during the Council. Think JFK and the New Frontier. John XXIII and Let's Open the Windows. MLK Jr's Dream. The Race to the Moon. The Peace Corps. Whether real or imagined, there was a palpable sense of post-WWII optimism, especially among the WWII generation and their kids. They were heady times.

The "no Latin, no way, no how" crowd are nostalgic progressives. And like all progressives, insufferable and intolerant bullies.
