“Jesus didn’t care about being nice or tolerant”

It is true that Jesus didn’t care about being nice, just look at how He berated the pharisees.

But was Jesus intolerant, which the title implies?

Maybe not.

If you believe Jesus has infinite power to heal and save, it’s easy to conclude He has power to destroy, too.

He could’ve easily escalated from merely badgering the pharisees to outright destroying them, and with good reason.

Jesus could’ve done the same to P. Pilate and a whole bunch of other despicable characters, including satan himself.

But he didn’t.

So I’d say Jesus is not just tolerant, but maybe just too tolerant.

Which is the key for each and everyone of us sinners.

He not only tolerates, but He also forgives and saves.

Actually, the reason Jesus did not do the things you point out he could have done is not due to tolerance. It is because Jesus was born to be crucified and die; the final blood sacrifice to atone for the world's sins. The spirit of satan caused Pilate, et. al., to do what they did because satan thought that a humiliating, torturous murder would put an end to a Savior. God's purpose was kept secret throughout the ages to make sure it would happen. And of course Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the dead.

1 Cor ch 2 says in part: “Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”

Jesus, unlike all the other prophets, simply did not have time during his earthly life to accumulate enough political power to wield violence in God’s name. Hence the “nice” image of Jesus

All the other prophets from Adam to Abraham to David to Moses, wielded the sword for God.

However when Jesus returns, He will return as a ruler and will wield massive power. And there will be violence, and there will be blood

He was intolerant of sin, as should all of us attempting to emulate him should be as well. First in our own lives, and then in the lives of those around us.

He had a plan from before the beginning, and what you see as tolerance was the fulfillment of a plan. He could have jumped from the temple roof too, and wiped out everyone that opposed Him, but that would have interfered with the plan. And the plan? That was to be the sacrifice offered for you and me to be saved.

Next time we see Jesus, He will be destroying those that oppose Him, and it will be violent.

Jesus too tolerant? Not at all. He is perfect and tolerates no evil. There is no “COEXIST” Jesus.

What makes you think he didn't? Where do you think they are now?

Jesus couldn’t have destroyed the Pharisees because he was fully human. Which was why He ended up on the Cross.

But He could have done it because he was fully God. Which was why He ended up on the Cross.
