Tom Petty says that no one has interpreted Jesus Christ’s teaching more incorrectly than Christians, as he was asked to explain the history behind his new song “Playing Dumb.”

In an interview with Billboard, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer explained his inspiration behind the song, which will be featured as a bonus cut on the accompanying vinyl release of “Hypnotic Eye.”

“Catholics, don’t write me,” Mr. Petty said. “I’m fine with whatever religion you want to have, but it can’t tell anybody it’s OK to kill people, and it can’t abuse children systematically for God knows how many years.”

“Playing Dumb” mourns the victims of sex abuse within the Catholic church, and takes aim at the major financial settlements that were awarded to some victims, Billboard reported.

“If I was in a club, and I found out that there had been generations of people abusing children, and then that club was covering that up, I would quit the club,” Mr. Petty told Billboard. “I wouldn’t give them any more money....

Tom Petty is nothing but a turncoat to his father and the fine people of Northern Florida where he is from. I will never forget seeing an interview he had years ago where he ripped his deceased father in a very classless way. Contrary to the absent father’s of many famous musician’s, Tom’s father was a good guy who originally doubted his son would ever make it in music, which is a valid concern due to the difficulty of making it in music. However, even though he was openly very proud of Tom when he did make something of himself in music, Tom still treated him like the classless liberal twit that he is.

Hard to argue with that. That's exactly what I did.

I never joined the Muzzie club. I was born into the RCC club. Nearly every priest I had in my parish growing up was gay. Three are defrocked, two of them did serious prison time for molesting boys. I finally just came to the conclusion that I couldn’t have my good name associated with that sort of thing anymore. So I left the RCC. May God bless them and keep them, but they can color me gone.

It was the religious leaders who plotted to kill Jesus. He did not come to start a religion but to save the world from sin for all who believe and receive Him. What TP is inferring relates to a false misconception and there are plenty to choose from bit they are not the Truth and the Light.

Tom, the pedophiles in the catholic clergy are not worthy of being compared to Christians.

“I’ve nothing against defending yourself, but I don’t think, spiritually speaking, that there’s any conception of God that should be telling you to be violent.

Could he repeat this thought in English?

All of a sudden Bruce Springsteen appears intelligent. OK, maybe that is a reach.
