Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Here are Four totally different pictures of the Dove in Scripture.

First, we have the familiar Dove of Noah, being sent out to find a dry place to rest her feet.

Then we have a picture of a famine so severe that even the dung of a dove is too expensive for people to afford.

Next we are shown the Holy Spirit, in the form of a Dove, manifesting Himself at the Baptism of Jesus.

Finally, we have the admonition of Jesus to His Disciples to be Wise as serpents and innocent as Doves." This is excellent advice to all of us, but without The Love of God, one can't wisely assess the nature of people without getting cynical. Being Wise as serpents and innocent as Doves." is impossible without the Holy Spirit filling our hearts, giving us wisdom and discernment, but guarding us from bitterness.
