Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

In the aftermath of 9/11/01, a false email was circulated about an Eagle in the Koran, claiming that it was "Sura 9:11. At the time I did a complete search of the Koran, and the "Eagle' was not mentioned at all! Then I did a search of the various hadiths and found JUST ONE mention of the "Eagle" in Bukhari. It was a instruction on how much ransom one should charge if one steals an EAGLE!(You can not make this stuff up!)

On the other hand, the Hebrew Scriptures are replete with references to the Eagle. Mostly in Apocalyptic Literature (including the New Testament Book of Revelation), the Eagle represents the Protection and Deliverance of God.

Starting with the Exodus and ending with the "Woman Clothed In The Sun", Eagle's Wings have carried Israel out of danger, oppression, and slavery. The Eagle's face appears on the Cherubim, who guard the Throne of God. Eagle's Wings lift us up when we are weary, Wave in Praise in the Heavenly Realm, and meet over the Mercy Seat of the Ark of the Covenant.

While some may interpret the Eagle to represent the USA, I believe it is a lot bigger. It represents the Sovereignty, the Majesty, and the Protection of the Almighty.
