Joyce Rouse is an enthusiastic woman. Perhaps more well-known by her stage name, Earth Mama, Rouse is a singer/songwriter whose music combines what she calls her passion for the Earth with themes of spirituality.
Born a Lutheran and now a Quaker, Rouse first became acquainted with women religious and the eco-spirituality movement when she began the master’s program in earth literacy at Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana. Since then, she says the Catholic sisters have taken her under their wing, sharing her music around the world and in their own contemplative practices.
And from her booth in the exhibitor hall at the Leadership Conference of Women Religious annual assembly, Rouse was not only sharing music, but also her enthusiasm for renewable sources of energy.
“My husband and I power 60 percent of our house with wind and solar power,” she said, toying with a collapsible solar lamp she kept at her booth. She believes these lamps could not only play a part in a global shift away from fossil fuels, but could also improve education in areas where children aren’t able to study at night because of unreliable power sources.
Rouse also believes she knows just the people to make that happen.

Talk about being out of touch with the message of the Gospel. So glad the younger, orthodox orders of sisters are growing by leaps and bonds, and these poor, deluded, old relics will slowly die out.

Most of the LCWR are like the women in the picture at the link, old and gray-haired. Thankfully, not many young women have joined their ranks.

Solar and wind energy works just fine, that is if you want to live just like we did 50 to 100 years ago.
I tried it, a gas fridge, heater with no fan, no swamp cooler, no tv because I don`t watch it, a computer sometimes.
I spent more on batteries than what our electric costs.
I also had two friends who went into it in a big way, 25000 to 35000 dollars and just like up town, the only problem it was not like up town, they both sold out and moved to town not long after I did.
The power plant operators in my area have estimated that solar energy will cost a lot more than coal and even more than gas.
So maybe the promoters of solar energy should try it first at their own expense, that is the tax payers and tithe payers should not have to pay it for them.
Careful, only use the word “orthodox” for the Eastern Orthodox churches only. Use the word “conservative” instead please. Thank-you!
The Roman Canon, in the original Latin, prays for "omnibus orthodoxis atque catholicae et apostolicae fidei cultoribus" ... "all the orthodox and those who adhere to the catholic and apostolic faith".
And the Byzantine Catholics have exactly the same language in their liturgy praying for "all the orthodox Christians" that the Eastern Orthodox have in theirs.
