In TX I remember seeing in a Catholic magazine years ago how decorated those German heritage churches are. Like works of art.

Jesus rather furfilled the prophecies that were spoken of Him in the Jewish scriptures or OT.

AMEN!

We Christians, be we Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestants, at a time when we are coming under increasing attack not just from Muslims, but securlists, even in the west, we must all close ranks and LOVE one another.

Ephesians 4:5-6, John 17.

Yes, and considering that Israel has over the years gone out of its way to protect the Christian holy sites.

Remember that Jesus is also the “logos” as in John 1.

Israel now allows for Christians to register as Aramean. Israel is simply honoring history, very old history at that.

But you aren't answering my question. Why believe that stuff about J*sus in the first place? Protestants thump their written "new testament" and Catholic/Orthodox thump their "holy churches," but no one is explaining why the "new testament," the churches, or even J*sus himself, are worthy of belief . . . other than to simply continuing to parrot the chrstian assumptions which are the point in contention in the first place.

Is it because no chrstian on this forum can justify those assumptions and those beliefs? Because all I'm getting from all of you is nostalgia and fideism.

It's not Genesis 1:11 (one verse). It's Genesis 1-11--eleven chapters which you Catholics and Orthodox believe are the work of stone-age savages which contain no historical facts whatsoever.

Ping me when you can justify your chrstian beliefs/assumptions by some other means than just invoking those beliefs/assumptions. Until then, have a nice day and happy Sukkot.

You'd better get used to it, since you're all going to be observing it eventually anyway.

Whether or not this satisfies the demands of Halakhah is another issue.

But maybe you can tell me something. Why do your fellow Catholics and Orthodox so hate and despise rural American Protestant Fundamentalists while praising their own unlearned peasants to the skies? Are poor rural Americans and poor Guatemalans/Greeks/Slavs/whatever really so different from each other? Why are other peasants so good and American peasants alone so bad?

Your co-religionists sound like white liberals who despise white Protestant Fundamentalists while practically worshiping their Black mirror reflections as "gxds."

Can you answer my question? If you're having trouble understanding what I'm asking, please ask for clarification and I will do my best.

Written by a Protestant, posted by a Catholic, and commented on by both. No point trying damage control pal. Might as well just admit that a certain somebody was a wee bit hasty on the trigger.

Why is the old Testament worthy of belief?

Happy feast of the Holy Rosary.

Another subject change? What about the first subject change regarding Creation?

Show of hands,

Who believes that Jesus Christ as part of the Holy Trinity was integral to the Creation of all things as described in Genesis 1?

Who denies that fundamental point about our Savior Jesus Christ?

Anti-Christ is Anti-Christ.

Doesn't much matter what lame garbage such folks use to rationalize their hatred of Christ and Christians they're still led by the same Satanic spirit that seeks to lead Christians astray, spread division among Christians, and halt the preaching of the Truth which is that Jesus Christ is our Savior and the one true Messiah the Old Testament prophesied.

When such folks comment on Christianity they do so to aid the anti-Christ spirit that Christ warned us about no matter what sort of false flag they try to fly.

Oh, yes. One near me is HUGE in a very small community. And trust me, they still choose to not mix.

I know one family where the grandfather before he died made sure that none of his grandchildren inherited any of his land because all of them married Protestant girls.

Headshake.

Might as well just admit that a certain somebody was a wee bit hasty on the trigger.

The only people who have been "a wee bit hasty on the trigger" are the idiots who've claimed that Catholics on Free Republic never ever post about, never ever think about, and never ever belittle or criticize anyone else's beliefs EVER EVER EVER.

On a different note, if a Protestant speaks in the forest and there are no Catholics around to hear him, is the Protestant still engaging in Catholic bashing?

What exactly is the problem with this thread?

For the life of me, I can't see one. It's message, from where I stand, is that the suffering of Christians (mainly Catholic and Orthodox) in Iraq and Syria is leading evangelicals to find common ground with their Christian brothers and sisters in the East and awakening an appreciation for their deep faith.

IMHO, its message is overwhelmingly positive.

Maybe that's the problem.

Eastern Christians have had a tough time being heard and understood by many Americans. In broad strokes, Catholics tend to see them as too foreign and exotic, Protestants see them as too Catholic.

What they have been suffering is just unspeakable, indescribable.

Even though I am part of our parish RCIA teaching team, I frankly think RCIA does a very, very poor job of promoting even minimal understanding of our Eastern Catholics, Orthodox, and other Middle Eastern Christians.

I have at least tried to publicize their plight in our church bulletin and at parish events. Generally too little, too late.

Who told you there was a problem with this thread? I didn't. Maybe listening to gossip (1 Timothy 5:13) is the problem here.
