What if one or the other is infertile? How about if she is already pregnant?
I understand his point but the idea that sex is ONLY about procreation is at least as wrong as the idea that it should be separate from procreation.
Sex is also about the communion between husband and wife.
**What if one or the other is infertile?**
Sometimes after an adoption the couple CAN conceive.
**How about if she is already pregnant?**
Common sense here.
:What if one or the other is infertile? How about if she is already pregnant?:
It appears the admonition is for the point of copulation to be “open to life”. So even if someone is infertile, they could be open to life. In the instance of pregnancy, they would not be open to life, but in either instance it does not negate the intent.
“open to life” refers to the couples attitude and acceptance of creating life during the sexual act.
It is the deliberate act of preventing the creation of life that the church stands against.
It does not mean that “If there is no possibility of life being created, there should be no sex.”
Those are completely different concepts and modes of thinking, and that should be easy to decipher from the phrase “open to life”.
"With God, all things are possible..." The medical diagnosis might be incorrect. Even doctors are human. The point is that the act should be open to (i.e. not seek to thwart from the git-go) the creation of Life.
How about if she is already pregnant?
The point is that the act should be open and welcoming to (i.e. not seek to thwart from the git-go) the creation of Life.
