The conclusion is: There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). By the way, that means exactly what it says, no ifs, ands or buts. If you are a Christian, there is no condemnation and you are truly free.
So what are Pauls premises leading up to that conclusion?
( )There are two walks.
One is a walk of the Spirit and the other a walk of the flesh.
What is the walk of the flesh? It is living under the burden of work, work and work and, then, if you work hard enough, God will notice just how hard youre working and, as a result, might love you. The walk of the Spirit is the understanding that you dont have the energy, goodness or skills to work long enough or hard enough to get God to love you. It is looking to his mercy and grace period.
( )
What is walking in the Spirit? Quite simply, it is leaning on Christ. It is understanding that, if it werent for his grace, you would be lost. It is trusting in God alone for salvation and for sanctification.

Back when I was a pastor, at communion, I used to issue an invitation: The only people we allow to take communion in this church are perfect people. And there are only two ways to be perfect
one never works and the other always works. You can work hard to become perfect on your own (which is impossible) or you can accept the imputed righteousness of Christ in your life. If youre a Christian, you arent perfect, but you are in the eyes of God because of what Christ has done for you on the cross.

How thankful I am that it's not up to my good works, that my sin has been moved as far as the east is from the west.
Psalm 32:1-5 "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah. I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah."
John 19:30 New International Version (NIV)
30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, It is finished. With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Jesus finished all the flesh and blood work all we have to do is believe, Praise God!
John 4:24 New International Version (NIV)
24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
Thanks for an article that stays Bible-based and displays His love for us.
Amen
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)
Thus,
But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. (1 Corinthians 11:32)
Thanks be to God who works to bring us to repentance and walking in faith if we go a stray, while warning us of departing from it. It is those who are without chastisement that are none of His.
It can be a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God...but better there than any other place.
Colossians 3:3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
And that is always looked at in the negative, but from the positive, when you consider the lengths God will go to for your good, in not allowing anything to continue in your life that can harm you, yeah, it might seem fearful, but it is really the safest place to be ever.
Song of Solomon 8:6-7 Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the Lord. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it. If a man offered for love all the wealth of his house, he would be utterly despised.
He’s not called the hound of heaven for nothing...he’s relentless at coming for us when we are on the wrong path....one thing known among Christians...if you really know Him you can’t go to far for very long...you miss him too much.
Amen! I really like Steve Brown.
Thank you for the ping. Not much to add other than AMEN!!!!
Indeed what a loving Father we have!
Praise God, though i am sure that will be occasion to add more if the Lord tarries.
We can always find some area of study to discuss, but the beauty, impossible to describe unmerited mercy, of The Gospel is what we stand on. Our works only reflect how we have been changed.
It’s amazing how these threads flow when God’s Word is discussed, shared and loved.
