* Seasonal competition exists between seasonal birthday celebrations (Jesus Christ vs. Joseph Smith)
* The celebration of 'Smithmas' thru the centuries has corrupted even four traditional Christmas Carols:
1. 'O Little Town of Bethlehem' becomes 'O Little Town of Jerusalem' when twisted through the Book of Mormon (Alma 7:10)
2. 'Angels We Have Heard on High' -- proclaiming the birth of Christ -- has been displaced by Mormon Hymn No. 224 ... Parley P. Pratt's 'An Angel From On High' (about the deceased man-angel, Moroni)
3. 'Hark the Herald Angels Sing' was corrupted on December 26, 1844 -- six months after Joseph Smith died -- when eventual Lds "prophet" John Taylor penned lyrics that amounted to a blasphemous idolatrous hymn of Smith: In the original version we hear: "Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth In Taylor's hymn about Smith, he wrote: Of noble seedof heavenly birth, He came to bless the sons of earth
4. And it gets worse! 'Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel' -- under Mormon theological re-interpretation -- becomes 'Oh Come, Oh Come EmmanSMITHuel'...this persistent Mormon theology somehow especially -- and weirdly -- gets regurgitated now on cue every 22 years (1944, 1966, 1988, 2010).
Finally, the 30-year annual Joseph Smith Memorial "Smithmas" December celebrations...
...fireside talks that would literally praise Joseph Smith...
...(Note: These were finally moved to after the New Year in the mid-1970s)...
...would at times show how Mormon leaders tanked Jesus' bodily incarnation...
Example: December 14, 1969: Lds "apostle" Mark E. Petersen neglected to acknowledge Jesus Christ Himself appearing to "people in general"...touting Joseph Smith alone did that!
A documentation chart then rounds out the whole sordid "Smithmas" history of displacing Christ in Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel -- and other Christmas carols, etc.
