I am Southern Baptist and this is news to me; I thought Southern Baptists always were pro-life. I never consulted the church to find out what I was supposed to believe on the subject—I’ve read the Bible. I’ve also read that liberals were taking over the church, so I assume that will change.
Southern Baptists are pro-life, and have been since the liberals were kicked out in the early 1980’s. The liberals went on to form the “mainstream” Baptists. They thankfully took Jimmy Carter with them.
For the most part you are correct. Liberals are taking over the Baptist Church however. I know of several “Christians”/”Baptists” who won’t bat an eye to the murder of an innocent child. Throwing scripture at them won’t change their mind either.
Like a wave apostasy has taken over almost every mainline church sadly.
Southern Baptists are about an 80% republican vote, with well fewer than 20% voting democrat, they are still far from liberal.
