Im concerned! His mouthing off could in reality affect the wonderful work the Southern Baptist Convention does throughout the world. . .missions, disaster relief, etc.
I thought the SBC would hold the line. God will not be mocked. The SBC cannot join the Laeodicean movement that is permeating the churches in this country today.
I think before any SBC leader makes statements as far reaching as this should consult with those in leadership at SBC. If this is the stance of the SBC then local autonomous churches that join with the SBC should take note. This is a “last days” sell-out.
I too am very disconcerted about such a statement coming from such a source. I always thought the SBC would be reliably conservative, but now it seems they are selling out a principle, and the consequences of doing so won’t be far behind.
