I am Catholic, and I will concede, it appears no place in the Bible.

Actually, in my Rosary which I pray every, the contents of it directly derived from the New Testament, primarily the Gospels. Let me break it down for you:

The Five Joyful Mysteries
1). The Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Luke 1:32,38.
2) The Visitation. Luke 39-43
3) The Nativity of our Lord Jesus. Luke 2:7
4) The Presentation of our Lord Jesus. Luke 2:25-32
5) The Find of our Lord Jesus. Luke 2:46-50

The Five Luminous Mysteries
1) The Baptism of our Lord Jesus. Matthew 3:13-17
2) The Revelation of our Lord at the Wedding of Cana. John 2:2-10
3) The Proclamation of our Lord Jesus of the Kingdom of God and his Call for our Conversion. Mark 1:14-15
4) The Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus. Luke 9:28-35
5) Our Lord Jesus gives us the Eucharist. John 6:51-57

The Five Sorrowful Mysteries
1) The Agony of our Lord Jesus in the Garden. Mark 14:32-38
2) The Scourging of our Lord Jesus at the Pillar. John 19:1
3) The Crowning of or Lord Jesus with Thorns. Mark 15: 17-19
4) Our Lord Jesus Carries the Cross to Calvary. John 19:18
5) The Death of our Lord. Mark 15:33-38

The Five Glorious Mysteries
1) The Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Mark 16:6-7
2) The Ascension of our Lord Jesus. Acts 1:7-9
3) The Descent of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:2-3
4) The Assumption of our Blessed Mother. 1 Thessalonians 4,14
5) The Coronation of Mary. Revelation 12:1

Now, since this all comes straight from the Bible, I have no problem with it.

Although some of my fellow Catholics don’t like when I say that marriage among the clergy is permissible. 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and that you do not have to confess your sins to a priest, James 5:16, you can confess them to others.

And I am protestant, and I have no trouble at all with a device that aids in prayer. I believe that we make far too much of our differences (Catholic/Protestant) and that in the very essentials there is agreement. God is supreme. He sent His Son to earth. He lived a perfect life, and was crucified. He rose from the dead. And He hears our prayers. Christ will return at a time unknown to us, to redeem His church. Faith in the above, and a repentant heart, saves us from separation from God, which is Hell.

Most of the tears eyed whalings of the TV preachers I see every day on TV are in the bible either. But then again they are usually preaching for a new BMW, so I guess it’s OK.
