Most Americans now say Jesus actually a sinner [Hebrews 4:15]

Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Despite more than nine out of 10 Americans agreeing Jesus was a historical figure, what they believe about Him diverges widely, according to a newly released survey from the Barna Research Group, a nonprofit organization that has been analyzing cultural trends related to religious belief since 1984.

The survey of more than 4,000 U.S. adults online and by phone suggests Americans are conflicted about the central figure of Christianity and have failed to successfully pass on their faith to succeeding generations.

That Jesus once walked the Earth as a man was accepted by 92 percent of respondents, with even 87 percent of Millennials (those born between 1984 and 2002) agreeing. This overwhelming belief in Jesus’ historicity is reflected in the success of popular movies and television shows such as “Son of God,” “The Passion of the Christ,” “The Bible” and “A.D.: The Bible Continues...”

Hmmm what am I more skeptical of, polls or the intellectual capacities of millennials?

Whew, will have to give that some thought.

Yes, he was tempted. He never sinned which is why his sacrifice was enough to atone for all our sins.

4,000 adults do not speak for all Christians. Surveys create news, not report the true status quo.

That was the whole point of Jesus dying for us. If he had sinned he could not have been a blameless sacrifice and able to pay for our sins.

I wonder what percentage of these people would claim that they themselves are not sinners. My guess is... most of them.

It’s mostly unchurched ignorance but not all of it, much is hatred of Jesus.

Most non-Christians believe in the good-bad balance. If you do just a tiny more good than bad, you’re in.

Wrong. Satan did try to trip Him up, and failed. The Deceiver thought that he could take advantage of the human form that He took on, and got smacked down by His Divinity. He was the Unblemished Lamb for the final sacrifice. John the Baptist even said that he was not worthy to tie His bootlaces.”It is finished” He said.

How any Americans does it take to turn the house around while some one holds the light bulb?

Maybe they polled leftist who thought it was wrong of Jesus to say “go and sin no more”. How intolerant of Him.

Polls are not biblical truths. They can give insight into other matters if they are about useful things. Oh well.

Actually, this is a pretty deep subject.
He was without sin, sinless, and pure. Yet He became sin for us.
He personally identified Himself as a sinner, because He stood in our place (e.g., Psalms 38, 69).
He identified with His people, so we could identify with Him.
He took our sins upon Him, and He gave us His spotless robes of Righteousness.

2 Cor 5:21 (paraphrased) For God made Him [our Lord Jesus Christ], who knew no sin, to be sin for us, who knew not righteousness, that we might be made the Righteousness of God in Him.
